Description

Registered Nurse (RN) – Progressive Care Unit (PCU)

Profession: Nursing
Specialty: Progressive Care Unit (PCU)

Job Description

We are seeking a skilled and compassionate Registered Nurse (RN) to join our Progressive Care Unit (PCU) team. The ideal candidate will provide specialized nursing care to patients who require close monitoring and a higher level of care than a general medical-surgical unit but do not require the full intensity of an intensive care unit (ICU).

The RN will assess patients, monitor clinical conditions, administer treatments, and collaborate with the interdisciplinary healthcare team to ensure safe, effective, and patient-centered care.

Responsibilities

  • Assess, monitor, and document patients' conditions, vital signs, and responses to treatment.
  • Provide nursing care to patients with complex medical conditions requiring continuous or frequent monitoring.
  • Monitor cardiac rhythms, recognize changes in patient status, and respond promptly to clinical deterioration.
  • Administer medications, IV therapies, and prescribed treatments according to physician orders and facility protocols.
  • Monitor patients with cardiac, respiratory, and other acute medical conditions within the unit's scope of care.
  • Perform comprehensive nursing assessments and develop, implement, and evaluate individualized care plans.
  • Collaborate with physicians, respiratory therapists, and other healthcare professionals to coordinate patient care.
  • Recognize changes in clinical status and escalate concerns promptly to the appropriate healthcare team.
  • Maintain accurate and timely documentation in the electronic medical record (EMR).
  • Educate patients and families about diagnoses, treatments, medications, and discharge instructions.
  • Follow infection prevention practices, patient safety standards, and hospital policies.
  • Assist with patient transfers, admissions, discharges, and transitions of care as needed.
