About Facility:

• 361 licensed beds
• Level III NICU
• Level 2 Trauma Designation
• Teaching Hospital: Yes, Residency Program
• Chest Pain Center
• Stroke Center

General Information:

• Number of ORs: 2 ORs within the birth center
• Will you accept a traveler with 1-year experience: At least 3 years in OB
• Will you accept a first-time traveler: No

Case Types:

• C-sections and assisting with vaginal deliveries as well
• Cases performed in a day:
• 70 C-sections per month; volume on day shift is more; night cases are not scheduled

Required Certifications:

• BLS, CST preferred

Skills required:

• Ability to pass and first assist
• Comfortable setting up for vaginal deliveries, taking instruments to and from sterile processing, assist nurses however they are needed within scope

Support on the Unit:

• Receptionist/HUC
• Charge nurse available (sometimes have pt assignment)
• Anesthesia/CRNA availability: On the unit 24/7
• Transport: Tech may help roll their patients on stretchers between Mother/Baby and L&D
• Technology/Equipment:
• EMR: EPIC-not expected to use

Floating: No

Orientation:

• NEO
• Precepted by another Scrub Tech on the unit for 1-2 shifts to get acclimated

Scheduling:

• Weekend rotation: Every other
• On call: No
• Holiday Expectations: Depends on department needs
• All RTO approval through manager
• Shift times: 7-7 (days or nights)
• Schedule cycle: Every six weeks
