Mandatory Requirements

• 2 years of total acute-care nursing experience
• At least 1 year of PCU experience
• Acute-care experience must be current, with consistent work during the last 12 months.
• Previous travel experience required.
• BLS and ACLS
• NIHSS listed under required certifications in the qualification section.
• Valid compact or Ohio RN license in hand at submission.
• Nursing education from an ACEN- or CCNE-accredited program.
• Two professional references: at least one from a manager, director, or supervisor. A Charge RN is acceptable for the second reference; coworker references are not accepted.

Important: Candidates who do not meet the current acute-care experience requirement must not be passed, even if they can be screened.

Preferred Qualifications

• Oncology experience (preferred, not mandatory)
• ONS Chemotherapy Certification
• NIHSS is also listed as preferred in the unit description, although the qualifications section lists it as required. Confirm this discrepancy with the account manager.

No chemotherapy certification is required for the position.

Clinical Responsibilities and Skills

• Care for newly diagnosed acute leukemia patients.
• PCU/stepdown and telemetry monitoring.
• Interpretation and management of dysrhythmias.
• Blood product administration.
• Central-line care and blood draws.
• PICC and peripheral-line management.
• Starting and maintaining IVs.
• IV antibiotics and electrolyte administration.
• Port access and management.
• Feeding-tube care.
• Rapid Response Team utilization.
• Infection prevention and fall prevention.

Scheduling and Floating

• Night shift: 7:00 PM – 6:30 AM.
• Weekend requirements vary according to unit needs.
• Floating required to other Med-Surg Oncology units.
• A rotating day/night option is mentioned in the description; confirm availability if the candidate needs a fixed night shift.
