Registered Nurse (RN) – Emergency Department (ER)

Position Overview

• Department: Emergency Department
• Trauma Level: Verified Level II Adult and Pediatric Trauma Center
• Department Capacity: 40 rooms
• Nurse-to-Patient Ratio: 1:4
• Required Experience: Minimum 2 years of Emergency Department nursing experience
• Required License: Active Indiana RN license or eligible compact RN license
• Charting System: Epic
• Medication Administration: Pyxis
• Scrub Color: Caribbean blue
• Floating: Not required

Required Certifications

All certifications must be from the American Heart Association (AHA) where specified.

• BLS
• ACLS
• PALS
• TNCC or ATCN required
• NIHSS strongly preferred

Required Clinical Experience & Skills

• Minimum 2 years of Emergency Department nursing experience.
• Experience providing emergency nursing care to adult and pediatric patients.
• Ability to respond to medical emergencies and critical trauma cases.
• Proficiency with Epic documentation and Pyxis medication administration.
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced emergency setting and collaborate with an interdisciplinary team.

Department Overview

The Emergency Department at Parkview Regional Medical Center is a verified Level II trauma center serving both adult and pediatric patients.

The department features an L-shaped layout with 40 rooms, including:

• 23 non-monitored single-patient rooms
• 13 monitored rooms, which can accommodate two patients when needed
• 4 resuscitation bays for critical trauma and medical patients

The department uses a team nursing approach to support coordinated patient care and efficient patient flow among care providers.

Schedule & Work Requirements

• Shifts: All shifts may be available.
• Floating: No floating to other units or departments.
• Scrubs: Caribbean blue.

Parkview Facility Policies

Local Rate Policy

• Clinicians whose permanent address is within 50 miles of the facility are subject to a 12% reduction in the regular bill rate.
• Rate multipliers are applied to the reduced regular bill rate.

Call-Off Policy

• The facility may call off or cancel up to 24 hours per 13-week assignment.

Orientation

• 8 hours of orientation are non-billable.
• Guaranteed hours do not apply during orientation.
• Clinicians returning within 12 months of their last worked date are not eligible for non-billable orientation.

Ideal Candidate

An experienced Emergency Department RN with at least 2 years of experience caring for adult and pediatric patients in a trauma-capable emergency setting. The ideal candidate holds the required AHA certifications, is comfortable with critical resuscitation cases, and has experience using Epic and Pyxis systems.
