Required Qualifications

• Minimum 1 year of LDRP experience; 3 years preferred
• Must be comfortable providing neonatal resuscitation (NRP) during delivery
• Must be able to independently manage labor, delivery, recovery, and postpartum care
• Candidates with L&D-only experience may be considered only if they have OR circulating experience
• Postpartum-only candidates are not accepted
• Must be comfortable titrating Pitocin and, occasionally, insulin

• Unit: Family Birthing Center / LDRP
• OBED Beds: 2
• LDRP Beds: 7
• Overflow Postpartum Beds: 4–8
• OR Suites: 1 for C-sections
• NICU: 2 beds for newborn stabilization
• Average Births: 70–80 per month
• Antepartum Testing: Approximately 60–70 NSTs per month
• Patient Population: Generally 35 weeks gestation and above; twin deliveries may occur. Patients under 35 weeks are transferred to a higher level of care.

Staffing & Support

• Charge nurse or Nurse Shift Manager available every shift
• One OB tech scheduled per shift; no CNAs
• OB provider in-house 24/7
• Anesthesia is on call with an approximately 20-minute response time when not already in-house. If a patient has an epidural, anesthesia remains in-house.
• Respiratory therapy attends every delivery and assists with respiratory support.
• Equipment includes a ventilator, CPAP, and bubble CPAP.
• No dedicated telemetry/monitor technicians.
• No in-house pediatric coverage; the RN must be comfortable with NRP at delivery.

Schedule & Facility Policies

• Weekend Requirement: Two weekend shifts per 4-week schedule
  • Night shift: Friday/Saturday
  • Day shift: Saturday/Sunday
• Holiday Requirement: Rotates with core staff
• On-Call/Standby: May be assigned on scheduled shifts; must be able to report within 30 minutes of callback
• Floating: May float to other Sacramento-area facilities; first to float
• Scheduling: Schedule is set 4 weeks in advance
• Cancellation Policy: Facility may cancel up to 4 shifts per 13-week assignment, or 3 shifts for assignments shorter than 13 weeks.

Submission Requirements

• References: Two supervisor references required at submission; charge nurse references accepted.
  • One reference must be from within the past 12 months.
  • One reference must be from within the past 3 years of employment.
• Photo ID: Copy of driver's license required at submission to validate legal name.
• Name Matching: Pulse profile must match the name on government-issued ID; do not include a middle name or middle initial.
• Previous Employment Restriction: Candidates must not have been directly employed (full-time, part-time, or PRN) by a facility associated with CommonSpirit, CHI, or Dignity within the past 12 months.
• Prescreening: Medical Solutions prescreen required.
• Clinical Confirmation: Confirm before submission that the candidate is comfortable with LDRP responsibilities and can “catch the baby.”
