Description
- Location: Nashua, New Hampshire
- Facility: Free-Standing Emergency Department
- Shift: Night, 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM
- Schedule: 12-hour shifts
- Guaranteed Hours: 48 hours per week
- Contract Length: 8
- Open Positions: 1
- Patient Ratio: Approximately 1:5
- EMR: Meditech Expanse
Requirements
- Minimum 2 years of ED experience for contract nurses.
- Strong assessment, critical-thinking, and communication skills.
- Must be dependable, adaptable, and able to work well with others.
Required Certifications
- BLS
- ACLS
- PALS
- MOAB
- TNCC
All five certifications are required for contract nurses.
Patient Population and Skills
- Trauma and stroke patients
- Sepsis and diabetic ketoacidosis (DKA)
- Complex cardiac patients
- Orthopedic injuries and lacerations
- Psychiatric and cardiopulmonary emergencies
- EKG interpretation and ultrasound-guided IV insertion
Scheduling and Floating
- Night shift, 7 PM – 7 AM
- Every other weekend required
- May float to the main Emergency Department if needed.
- No floating to other units.
Other Important Details
- One charge RN and two RNs typically staff each shift.
- Nurses perform initial assessments, lab workups, EKGs, X-rays, and protocol-based medication administration.
- Must be comfortable with point-of-care lab testing and rapid emergency assessments.
