Travel/Contract Registered Nurse - Stepdown Unit

Location: Cleveland, Ohio
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Job Details

• Unit: HVTI-Stepdown (Stepdown Unit)
• Shift: 3x12 hour shifts only (Day/Night rotating shifts 7pm-7:30am / 7am-7:30pm)
• Shift rotation may be required to meet hospital operational needs
• Must work at least every other holiday

Required Experience

• Minimum 18 months of permanent experience in the specialty prior to travel
• Minimum 18 months of recent Stepdown experience (travel experience accepted)
• Progressive Care Unit (PCU) or Progressive Care experience preferred but not required

Required Licenses & Certifications

• Must have a permanent Ohio nursing license or a compact state license in hand
• BLS (Basic Life Support) certification (AHA or American Red Cross)
• ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) certification
• NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification

Required Assessments & Testing

• ECG rhythm recognition test and SafeMedicate pass required during orientation
• Pass/Fail ECG & Medication testing completed onsite during orientation (not required for legacy candidates with less than 6 months gap between contracts)

Compliance & Onboarding Requirements

• Government-issued photo ID (Driver’s License/State ID) required and must be carried on assignment
• Background checks including FCRA compliant 7-year search, EPLS/GSA/SAM, HHS/OIG, and fingerprinting (FBI and BCI) required and must be updated annually
• Fingerprinting must be completed within 48 hours of signed contract and results must be on file prior to contract extension
• Education verification required for all candidates
• Completion of facility-specific online training modules prior to start (must be done on a computer using Google Chrome)
• Physical exam within 1 year of start, including Snellen eye exam (required for new candidates signing 4/11/2025 or later)
• Fit mask test (N95) within 12 months of start and updated annually
• Immunizations and health documents required: Tdap, TB test or chest x-ray, MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella), Hepatitis B, Varicella, Flu vaccine or approved exemption, drug testing (10 panel) within 12 months
• Annual competency exams and skills checklist required
• Two professional references from employment within one year of start (manager, supervisor, charge nurse, or director only)
• Employment application must include 3 years prior work history with at least 2 years clinical practice in acute care and similar area

• Candidates with latex allergies must notify facility to ensure latex-free gloves are stocked
• Candidates may start with fingerprinting results pending but must complete fingerprinting prior to start
• Modules and onboarding must be completed prior to clearance to start
• Candidates must comply with all facility-specific policies and annual renewals of certifications and health requirements

This position is ideal for experienced Stepdown RNs with strong clinical skills, current Ohio licensure, and the ability to work rotating 12-hour shifts in a high-acuity hospital setting.
