Job Opportunity: Labor and Delivery Registered Nurse

Job Description

• May be asked to float to other floors or campuses
• Must live within 150 miles of the facility
• Flexibility required

Required Certifications

• Registered Nurse (RN) license
• Basic Life Support (BLS) - AHA only (Instructor, Provider, or RQI acceptable)
• Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) - AHA only (Instructor, Provider, or RQI acceptable)
• Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) - required as applicable
• Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) - required as applicable
• Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC) - required as applicable
• Electronic Fetal Monitoring (EFM) - required as applicable
• Chemotherapy certification - required as applicable
• Emergency Nursing Pediatric Course (ENPC) - required as applicable
• NIH Stroke Certification - required as applicable
• Orientation Safety Manual Acknowledgement - required, update annually
• Pass/Fail Testing (EKG/Medication) - required for Telemetry RNs
• Medication Test/Pharmacology Competency Exam - required as applicable
• Color Blind Testing (online) - required
• Competency Exam - required as applicable
• State License Verification and NURSYS Verification - required within 30 days of start

Required Background Checks and Verifications

• 7-year background check within 1 year of start, updated annually
• EPLS/GSA/SAM check within 30 days of start
• HHS/OIG check within 30 days of start
• Education verification (highest level) or transcript/diploma
• State-specific checks for Texas (DADS Employability Status Check and Employee Misconduct Registry) within 30 days of start

Health and Immunization Requirements

• Physical exam within 1 year of start (must be completed within 72 hours of signing contract)
• Fit mask (3M 1860 Regular or 1860S), updated annually
• Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap vaccine within 10 years
• Negative TB test or chest X-ray (PPD or Qgold/Tspot) within 1 year
• Rubeola (Measles) - positive titer or 2 vaccines required
• Mumps - positive titer or 2 vaccines required
• Rubella - positive titer or 2 vaccines required
• Hepatitis B - positive titer, series, or declination accepted
• Varicella - positive titer or 2 vaccines required
• Drug testing - negative 10-panel drug screen with THC within 10 business days prior to start; facility conducts additional drug screen upon arrival
• Seasonal flu vaccination required during flu season (Oct 1 - Mar 31), with religious or medical exemptions accepted

Additional Requirements

• 2 professional references within 3 years of start
• Resume or employment application required
• Skills checklist updated annually
• Completion of facility-specific documents and acknowledgments prior to start (e.g., vaccination info, TB and occupational exposure, patient-centered pledge, confidentiality, compliance, background check authorization, traveler identification, employee handbook review)
• Must complete orientation modules (~3-4 hours)
• Parking available during and after orientation
