Registered Nurse Travel/Contract Job - Utica, New York

Job Details

  • Unit Details:
    • 8 East: Oncology, Hematology, Endocrinology
    • 8 West: ENT, Dermatology, GI General
  • Shift Requirements: Must work a Day or Evening shift for 2 of 3 major holidays
  • Patient Ratios:
    • Med/Surg days: 1:5-6
    • Med/Surg nights: 1:6-7
  • Electronic Medical Record: EPIC required

Experience Requirements

  • Years of Experience: Minimum 1.5 years in specialty
  • Prior Travel Experience: Not explicitly required

Licenses & Certifications

  • Required:
    • New York RN License (in hand)
    • BLS (Basic Life Support)
    • EPIC experience required
  • Preferred:
    • NIH Stroke Certification
  • Additional Certifications (Aya contract standards):
    • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) - AHA strongly preferred
    • PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) - AHA strongly preferred
    • TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course) - Required for ER staff
  • Harassment Prevention Training: New York state required annually

Competencies & Exams

  • Medication Test/Pharmacology Competency Exam (80% passing or meet Angoff score)
  • Dysrhythmia/EKG Competency Exam (required for ICU, PCU, ER, CT ICU, and 7th Floor Med/Surg; expires every 3 years)
  • Color Blind Testing (required prior to start)

Health & Safety Requirements

  • Physical exam within 1 year of start
  • Fit Mask test within 1 year and updated annually (specific N95 masks required)
  • Negative TB test or Chest X-Ray within 1 year (PPD, Quantiferon Gold accepted; Tspot not accepted)
  • Immunizations or positive titers required for:
    • Rubeola (Measles)
    • Mumps
    • Rubella
    • Hepatitis B (titer, declination, or vaccine series)
    • Varicella (titer, vaccine, or history of chickenpox)
  • Drug Testing: 9 Panel Drug Screen within 1 year of start
  • Seasonal Flu Vaccination or Declination required during flu season (Sept 1 - Mar 31)
  • Pneumonia Vaccination or Declination required

Additional Requirements

  • Must be able to return to work in approximately 7 days (RTO)
  • Local radius: 75 miles
  • Locals accepted at a reduced rate (not relevant for healthcare workers)
  • Required to complete facility-specific online modules prior to first shift
  • Must review and sign facility-specific job description and welcome packet
  • Photo for badge required (headshot, plain background, no head coverings)
  • Emergency contact form required prior to start
  • Background checks and education verifications required (standard 7-year search, annual updates)
