Job Opportunity: Radiology / Cardiology Specialist
Location: Oakland, California
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 12 weeks
Job Description
- Position is part of an AFSCME bargaining unit.
- Work schedule: 8-hour shifts, days or evenings.
- Must be willing and able to float to other UCSF units and facilities as needed.
- Required certifications and experience:
- ARRT certification
- AHA BLS certification
- Venipuncture certification
- Minimum 3 years of MRI experience, specifically with Philips equipment
- Competency required in at least 3 of the following 6 specialty scans:
- Cardiac Imaging
- Fetal Imaging
- Whole body Pediatric scans
- Special procedures (e.g., HIFU, DBS)
- Pediatric/Adult Anesthesia
- Breast Imaging
Required Credentials & Compliance
Certifications
- ACLS (AHA only, no placeholders) – required for specific units including Adult Cath Lab, ER/ED, ICU, PACU, etc.
- BLS (AHA only, no placeholders) – required for all clinical positions.
- PALS – required for pediatric and certain other units.
- NRP – required for L&D, ICN, Pediatric Critical Care Float Pool, Pediatric Transport.
- CHEMO – required for Oncology and Pediatric Oncology.
- TNCC – may be required for ER/ED.
- EFM – required for Labor & Delivery (AWHONN accepted).
- State License Verification – primary source verification within 30 days of start.
- NURSYS Verification – required for RNs and LPN/LVNs within 30 days of start.
- Other certifications may be required depending on unit (e.g., CPI for Psych positions, NIH Stroke Certification for ED RNs).
Competency Exams
- Medication Test/Pharmacology Competency Exam – passing score 80%, required within a year of start.
- Unit Specific Competency Exam – passing score 80%, required within 12 months of start.
- Core Parts I, II, III – passing score 80%, must be completed within a year prior to start and updated annually.
Background & Health Requirements
Background Checks
- 7-year criminal background check within 30 days of start, including specific Bay Area counties regardless of residence.
- EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks within 30 days of start.
- Education verification or copy of diploma/transcript acceptable.
- Sex offender search required for extensions with assignment gaps over 30 days.
Health Documents
- Physical exam within 1 year of start, including physician statement of fitness to work.
- Fit mask test within 1 year of start (specific mask types required), updated annually.
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap vaccine within 10 years (declinations not accepted except medical exemptions).
- Two negative TB tests required: one within 1 year and one within 3 months of start, or chest X-ray if positive TB history. Annual TB questionnaire required.
- Immunizations or titers required for:
- Rubeola (Measles)
- Mumps
- Rubella
- Hepatitis B (titer, series, or declination)
- Varicella
- Drug testing: Standard 9-panel (excluding THC) within 30 days of start, re-run every 2 years.
- Seasonal flu vaccination or facility-specific declination required annually.
- COVID-19 vaccination requirements include booster 2 and seasonal vaccination or approved exemptions.
Facility Specific Requirements
- Must complete UCSF Learning Center modules ASAP after clearance; required before working on the floor.
- Pass/Fail Medication Calculation and Telemetry exams on first day of orientation for applicable units.
- Review and initial COVID-19 preparedness, parking, uniform, and other facility policies via DocuSign prior to start.
- Wage Benefit Parity (WBP) form required pre-start for all clinical and non-clinical candidates under UC Health profiles.
- Emergency contact information and cybersecurity awareness training required.
- COVID-19 related exemption forms (religious or medical) must be submitted at least 2 weeks prior to start for approval.
Employment History & References
- Resume with last 7 years of work history required; gaps of 30 days or more must be explained.
- Two supervisory references required, preferably from the most recent employment.
- Unit-specific skills checklist updated annually.
- Work history verification for 7 years required (not required for non-clinical).
