Job Details

• Shift: 7 PM - 7 AM
• On Call: Rotating weekend call required
• Experience Required: Minimum 2 years in Emergency Room (ER) acute care setting

• Unit Description:

  • Fast-paced ER with highly acute patients
  • Patient volume: 175-200 patients per day
  • Unit includes transplant center, burn center, LVAD, total heart, PICU, NICU, L&D, comprehensive stroke center, ECMO cannulation in ED, chest pain center
  • Minimal prior experience requires at least experience in a 30-bed ER
• Floating: Required within scope to meet facility needs, including sister facilities
• Local Radius Rule: Must live more than 75 miles from the facility (locals not accepted)
• Return to Office (RTO) Restrictions: No more than 5 days allowed
• Charting System: Epic
• Block Schedule: Not accommodated

Required Certifications & Licenses

• BLS (Basic Life Support)
• ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
• PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support)
• NIHSS (NIH Stroke Scale Certification)
• ESI (Emergency Severity Index) Certification (required for ER nurses)

Compliance & Documentation Requirements

• Valid Driver’s License and a utility bill in the candidate’s name with matching address dated within the last 3 months (address must be >75 miles from facility)
• Background checks including:

  • 7-year criminal background check within 30 days of start, updated annually
  • EPLS/GSA/SAM, HHS/OIG, OFAC sanctions list updated monthly
  • Fingerprinting (if applicable)
  • Education verification of highest degree
• Health documents including:

  • Physical exam within 1 year stating good health and no physical limitations
  • Negative TB test or chest x-ray within required timeframes
  • Required vaccinations or titers: Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Hepatitis B, Varicella, Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap, Hepatitis A (for certain units), Flu seasonal vaccine, COVID-19 vaccine or approved declination
  • Drug screening (10-panel including marijuana) within 30 days prior to start, updated annually
• Competency exams and annual updates including:

  • Medication/Pharmacology competency
  • Dysrhythmia/EKG competency
  • Core Parts I, II, III (covering safety, ethics, patient rights, etc.)
  • Behavioral competency exam (if applicable)
• Facility-specific requirements:

  • Patient Care Orientation Class (skills) mandatory
  • EPIC training if no EPIC experience within 12 months
  • Fit testing for N95 masks on-site
  • Completion of facility policy acknowledgments and agreements prior to start

Additional Requirements

• Two references from former direct supervisors (one within 1 year, one within 3 years)
• Updated resume covering last 7 years of employment with explanations for gaps over 30 days
• Skills checklist updated annually and aligned with competency exams
• Work history verification for the past 10 years, including international positions
