Medical Surgical RN

Overview

• Travel/Contract role in Columbia, Missouri
• 36 or 48 hour contracts available
• Locals accepted
• Local candidates will not be eligible for extensions beyond the initial contract

Unit / Setting

• Adult overflow unit with 10 beds
• Serves adult patients age 16 and older
• Float scope: Med/surg Service line

Schedule

• Day shift: 7:00 to 19:30
• Every other weekend
• Charge duties as needed
• 50% of holidays on contract

Required Qualifications

• Valid RN license in Missouri
• Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
• Med Surg (1 year of experience)
• Med Surg experience within the last year
• Prior travel experience required
• BLS - Basic Life Support issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross

Clinical Details

• Ratios: 1:5-7
• Common patient populations include Neurology, Internal Medicine, Family Medicine, Cardiology, Orthopedics, and Oncology
• Diagnoses include diabetes, CHF, COPD, renal disease, orthopedic fractures, and neurological deficits
• General floor care skills include IV therapy, labs, nasogastric tubes, wound care, assisting physicians with bedside procedures, and conscious sedation

Additional Notes

• Rotating shifts, holiday work, and work during inclement weather may be required
• The role involves ambulating, reaching, and moving objects weighing up to and over 20 lbs
• The role routinely comes into contact with patients who may have contagious illnesses
