Overview

Employment type: Travel/Contract
Contract length: 13 weeks
Shift: Day, 3x12 hours, 6:30 AM–7:00 PM
Weekend requirement: Up to 1 weekend shift per 4-week schedule period
On-call: Up to 4 call shifts per 4-week schedule period
Float scope: May float within scope to meet facility needs / between like units and sister facilities
First-timers accepted: Yes
Trauma level: Level 1 trauma

Required Qualifications

Certified Surgical Technologist with 2 years of experience
Certified Surgical Technologist experience within the last year
NBSTSA certification
BLS issued by American Heart Association

Preferred

Neuro cases experience, especially spines/crani
ENT cases experience, especially flaps
Robotics experience, especially DaVinci Xi

Clinical Setting

Main Operating Room in a level-one academic trauma center
21 OR suites
Cases include Trauma, Transplant, Ortho, Neuro, ENT, GU-GYN, and Robotics

Additional Notes

Scrub color is provided
Charting system: EPIC
Parking requires a $20 hang tag registration fee
Hurricane season may require assignment to emergency response teams

Pros

Everyone was so helpful and nice when i started. beautiful hospital grounds with ample outdoor areas to hang out during breaks/lunch.Amazing cafeteria and always had at least 5 food trucks outside the hospital for linch. Friendly staff including doctors and great patients. patient to staff ratio was awesome and always had a great team mentality of helping everyone out when needed.

Cons

The only con of the area was cost of living especially rent. I rented downtown so I could walk to work but coworkers who lived off of the main downtown area on other islands complained of heavy traffic.
