PCU Travel/Contract RN

Location

Toledo, Ohio

Schedule

  • Night shift, 3x12 hours
  • 36 hours per week
  • Every other weekend required
  • Floating required within the service line as needed

Contract Length

13 weeks

Setting

Adult Med Surg / mixed unit PCU, Med Surg Tele, and Med Surg

Required Qualifications

  • Valid RN license in Ohio
  • PCU - Progressive Care Unit (1 year of experience)
  • PCU - Progressive Care Unit experience within the last year
  • ACLS issued by American Heart Association
  • BLS issued by American Heart Association
  • NIHSS
  • Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
  • Experience in a(n) Acute Care setting
  • Interpretation of dysrhythmias
  • Management of dysrhythmias
  • Titration of insulin drips
  • TPN titration
  • Experience with Epic

Clinical Experience Highlights

  • Adult patient population
  • Telemetry monitoring
  • Dysrhythmia interpretation and management
  • Insulin drip titration
  • Feeding tube care and management
  • Central line, peripheral line, and PICC line care/management
  • Blood product administration
  • Starting IVs
  • Surgical drains
  • Nasal cannula and non-invasive airway management
  • Wound care and wound vac
  • TPN titration

Additional Notes

  • On-call not required
  • Block scheduling not accommodated
  • RTO greater than 7 days requires management approval
  • EPIC charting is required

Compliance / Pre-Start Requirements

  • 2 professional references within 2 years of start, including at least 1 leader reference
  • 7-year background check within 12 months of start
  • Education verification
  • State license verification
  • NURSYS verification
  • Annual EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks
  • Annual skills checklist
  • Annual N95 fit test
  • Physician statement within the last 12 months
  • Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 3 months of start
  • Tdap within 10 years
  • Hepatitis B series, positive titer, or declination
  • Measles, mumps, rubella, and varicella immunity or approved exemption
  • Negative 10-panel drug screen within 12 months of start
  • Seasonal flu vaccine or approved exemption during flu season
  • Facility-specific Jot Form required before start

Cons

The schedule was 8 hours days the schedule had no flexibility. I used 1 sick day as provided in my contract and they immediately contacted my agency to complain
