Role Overview

• Travel/contract registered nurse position in Ventura, California
• 13-week assignment
• Night shift: 3x12 hours, 6:45 PM to 7:15 AM
• Patient ratio: 1:2
• Patient population: adolescents to geriatrics
• Floating required within the service line

Required Qualifications

• Valid RN license in California
• Neuro ICU experience with 1 year of experience
• Neuro ICU experience within the last year
• One completed travel assignment
• ACLS - Advanced Cardiac Life Support issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
• BLS - Basic Life Support issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
• TNCC - Trauma Nursing Core Course or T-CAR (Trauma Care After Resuscitation)
• NIHSS - NIH Stroke Certification
• Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
• Trauma experience
• Experience with Cerner

Required Certifications

• ACLS
• BLS
• NIH Stroke Certification
• TNCC or TCAR
• COVID vaccination required

• Accurate charting and assessments
• Cerner charting familiarity
• Surgical intensive care unit experience
• Dysrhythmia interpretation and management
• Multi-system organ failure care
• IV insulin protocols
• GI surgery care
• Chronic and acute renal failure care
• CVVHD/CRRT
• Shunt and fistula care
• Port access
• Arterial line management
• Blood product administration
• Central line and PICC care
• IV starts
• Continuous IV sedation and procedural sedation administration
• Cardiac and vasoactive drip titration
• CVA and acute stroke management
• External ventricular drains
• Hypothermia protocol / Arctic Sun
• ICP monitoring
• Post-neurosurgery management
• Spinal cord injury / TBI care
• Chest tube insertion/removal assistance
• BiPAP/CPAP management
• Ventilator management
• High-flow nasal cannula
• ABG interpretation
• ETT and NT suctioning
• Infection prevention, isolation precautions, and PPE use
• Phlebotomy
• Surgical wounds with drains / wound vac care

Additional Notes

• Strict adherence to accurate charting is emphasized
• Unit performs extensive chart audits
• All requested time off must be submitted with the initial application
