Job Details

  • Contract Length: 13 weeks

  • Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend
  • On-call Requirement: No
  • Floating: Yes, may need to float within scope to like units
  • Block Scheduling: Open to accommodating
  • Locals: Not accepted (50-mile radius rule from main campus)
  • Pending License: Not accepted
  • Return Staff Policy: Must be gone for 1 year to return as a traveler
  • Contract Limit: Maximum of 2 contracts (can extend once), then must be gone for 6 months before returning

Required Qualifications

  • Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in North Carolina
  • Minimum 2 years of Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) experience
  • PICU experience within the last year
  • American Heart Association (AHA) Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification
  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification issued by the American Heart Association
  • Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)

Facility & Work Environment

  • Facility Type: Short-term acute care, Level III Trauma Center, Teaching Hospital
  • Total Staffed Beds: 733
  • Charting System: Epic
  • Scrub Colors: Royal blue and white

Additional Requirements & Policies

  • Photo for Badge: Professional passport-style photo required (no large earrings, face piercings, unnatural hair colors, or head coverings unless religious)
  • Facility Forms: Must complete and sign various facility-specific documents prior to start (e.g., confidentiality agreement, emergency contact form, job description acknowledgment)
  • Parking Registration: Required if driving to work
  • Modules: Must be completed prior to start (facility will provide instructions)
  • Return to Work Restrictions: Per manager discretion
  • Guaranteed Hours: Call-off policy allows 2 shifts off per 13-week assignment; after that, contracted hours are guaranteed

  • Locals within 50 miles of the main campus are not accepted for this travel assignment.
