Medical Surgical Registered Nurse - Travel/Contract

Location: Kingwood, West Virginia
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Shift: Nights (3x12 or 4x12 hour shifts), primarily weekdays, some weekends, float, and holidays (including Christmas)
Unit: 18-bed Critical Access Hospital

Job Description

• Provide acute care on a Medical-Surgical unit
• Must be flexible to work holidays, weekends, and float as needed
• Electronic Medical Record (EMR) system used: CPSI
• Scrubs not provided (wine and/or white color preferred)

Required Qualifications

• Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in West Virginia
• Minimum 1 year of Medical-Surgical nursing experience within the last year
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association
• NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification
• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)

Required Documentation & Compliance

• Government-issued photo ID (must be carried during hours of service)
• Proof of E-Verify or attestation
• Background check: 7-year criminal history, education verification, EPLS/GSA/SAM, HHS/OIG checks (updated annually or per contract renewal)
• Verification of RN license (recently pulled within 2 days of submission)
• Proof of COVID-19 vaccination or declination
• Seasonal flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption (required during flu season)
• Physical exam attesting ability to meet job demands (initial and annual updates)
• Negative TB test or chest X-ray within required timeframes
• Drug screening: 10-panel within 30 days of start and updated annually
• Required immunizations or titers within 2 years: Measles (Rubeola), Mumps, Rubella, Varicella, Hepatitis B (or declination)
• Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap vaccination preferred (within 10 years)
• Fit mask test within 1 year of start (facility may provide onsite testing if needed)
• Stroke certification (NIHSS) required prior to start
• Skills checklist updated annually
• Two clinical references within the past 2 years required
• Completed employment application/resume

Orientation & Training

• Completion of Care Learning modules required prior to start (facility will provide access once candidate is compliant)
• Cerner EMR training not required for this facility
• Facility-specific dress code and parking information provided for review
• Badge photo required prior to clearance
• ReadySet (RS) surveys and contractor forms to be completed as applicable

Additional Notes

• Blocked schedule cannot be guaranteed but the unit will try to accommodate travelers
• Candidates must be willing to work Christmas and other holidays as scheduled
• All required certifications must be on file prior to start; no pending certifications allowed
