ICU Registered Nurse Travel/Contract Job - Worcester, MA

Position Details

• Job Title: ICU Registered Nurse
• Location: Worcester, Massachusetts
• Unit: Medical ICU
• Shift: Night shift, 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (7:00 PM – 7:30 AM)
• Hours per Week: 36 hours
• Contract Length: 13 weeks
• Scheduling: Based on unit needs; no block schedules available
• Float Requirement: Must float to other adult ICUs as needed
• Charting System: Epic
• Weekend/Holiday Requirement: Every other weekend and holiday

Required Qualifications

• License: Valid Massachusetts RN license
• Experience: Minimum 2 years ICU experience highly preferred (candidates with less than 2 years will be considered)
• Certifications:

  • BLS (Basic Life Support) - AHA only
  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) - AHA only
• Prior Travel Experience: Not required; first-time travelers accepted

Compliance and Documentation Requirements

• Valid Driver’s License or State ID
• Massachusetts Statewide iCORI Release (time sensitive)
• 7-year Criminal Background Check within 30 days of start (includes SSN trace, county search, national criminal search, and federal databases)
• Education Verification of highest completed education (transcript acceptable if verification unavailable)
• State license verification and NURSYS verification within 30 days prior to start
• Physical exam within 12 months of start, including physician statement of fitness without restrictions
• Drug testing within 30 days of start (specific drug panels required)
• Immunizations or valid declinations for:

  • COVID-19 (most recent vaccine or facility-specific declination)
  • Flu vaccine or facility-specific declination (required during flu season)
  • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (declinations not accepted for Pediatrics, NICU, Maternity)
  • MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) with positive titers, vaccines, or declination (declinations not accepted for Pediatrics, Maternity, NICU)
  • Varicella with positive titer, vaccine, documented history, or declination (declinations not accepted for Pediatrics, Maternity, NICU)
  • Hepatitis B vaccination series, reactive titer, or declination (declinations valid for 1 year)
• Tuberculosis screening: Two PPD tests or QuantiFERON/T-Spot within 90 days; chest X-ray if positive TB history plus facility-specific TB questionnaire
• Pass/fail medication exam required on first day of orientation (minimum 80% score)
• Dysrhythmia/EKG competency exam required within 6 months of start and annually thereafter for direct RNs in acute care and critical care units; failure results in immediate cancellation
• References: Two references within three years of start
• Employment application documenting 7 years of employment history with explanations for gaps over 30 days
• Skills checklist required prior to start and updated annually

Additional Notes

• Candidates must be prepared to pass required competency exams on orientation day to avoid cancellation.
• This position requires flexibility to float between adult ICUs.
• No prior travel experience is necessary; new travel nurses are welcome.
• The facility uses Epic for electronic medical records.
