Job Opportunity: Occupational Therapist - Outpatient

Location: Sacramento, California
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Shift: Day shift, 5 days per week, 8 hours per day (8:00 AM - 4:30 PM)
Hours per Week: 40


Job Description

  • Provide assessment, planning, organization, and participation in rehabilitative programs aimed at building or restoring vocational, homemaking, daily living skills, and general independence for persons with disabilities or developmental delays.
  • Gain patient and family cooperation through competent assessment, attentive monitoring, and effective communication.
  • Adhere to all local, state, and federal regulations, policies, and procedures to ensure privacy and safety.
  • Provide clinical supervision of assistants and aides.
  • Serve as a clinical instructor for assigned students.
  • Must be open to travel to patient homes as needed for home assessments and visits.

Required Qualifications

  • Valid Occupational Therapist license in California
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification

Certifications & Compliance

  • Background check including 7-year history, motor vehicle report, sex offender search, and FACIS Level 3 screening.
  • Education verification (highest level achieved).
  • Physical exam within 1 year of start.
  • Fit mask test within 1 year, renewed annually.
  • Immunizations and health screenings required:
    • TB screening (annual renewal).
    • Adult Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap within 10 years.
    • Measles, Mumps, Rubella (MMR) immunity or vaccination.
    • Hepatitis B vaccination series or declination.
    • Varicella immunity or vaccination.
    • Seasonal flu vaccination during flu season (Nov 1 - Apr 30).
  • Negative 9-panel drug screen within 6 months of start (excluding marijuana due to CA law).
  • Respiratory safety clearance (not required for this role unless specified).
  • Other certifications as applicable per position and facility requirements.

Documentation & Compliance Requirements

  • Full 7 years of work history with no gaps in employment longer than 30 days.
  • Unit-specific skills checklist (renewed annually).
  • Professional license verification within 30 days of start.
  • Review and sign facility-specific documents including:
    • Job description
    • Standards of business conduct
    • Code of conduct
    • Vendor training
    • Overpayment refund policy
    • Regulatory orientation
    • Conditional offer of employment attestation
  • TB questionnaire signed by candidate and healthcare provider within 90 days of start.
  • Personal auto insurance must be valid for the duration of the assignment.

  • Candidates must be willing to travel to patient homes as part of the role.
  • Clinical supervision and student instruction responsibilities are part of the job.
  • Compliance with all facility and state-specific background and health screening requirements is mandatory.
  • Religious and medical exemptions for certain immunizations and fit testing may be considered on a case-by-case basis with appropriate documentation.
