Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse - CVICU

Location

  • Madison, Wisconsin

Employment Type

  • Travel/Contract

Contract Length

  • 13 weeks

Work Schedule

  • 12-hour shifts
  • Day shift: 7:00 AM – 7:30 PM (3 shifts per week)
  • Night shift: 7:00 PM – 7:30 AM (3 shifts per week)
  • Every other weekend required
  • Some holidays required
  • No on-call duties

Unit / Specialty

  • Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit (CVICU)

Required Experience & Skills

  • CVICU experience required
  • Experience and knowledge of NextStage CVVH machine required
  • Experience in Cardiothoracic Surgery and/or Acuity Adaptable area preferred
  • Basic Arrhythmia experience required
  • Must pass a Telemetry test prior to start

Required Licenses & Certifications

  • Wisconsin Registered Nurse (RN) license
  • American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS)
  • American Heart Association (AHA) Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS)

Testing & Competency Requirements

  • Telemetry test (pass/fail) required before starting; annual renewal required
  • Medication/Pharmacology competency exam as applicable
  • Annual skills checklist required

Background & Compliance Requirements

  • Background check within 90 days prior to start, including all locations lived/worked/schooled in past 7 years
  • Wisconsin Caregiver Background Check and BID Form required
  • Education verification as applicable
  • Drug screening required per standard clinical guidelines
  • Physical exam collected to meet agency standards (not facility required)
  • Immunization and health document requirements including:
    • TB test or chest X-ray (with follow-up if positive)
    • MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) vaccination or exemption
    • Varicella vaccination or exemption
    • Hepatitis B vaccination or declination form
    • Seasonal flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption
    • Other vaccines or declinations as applicable (e.g., Meningococcal for certain departments)

Additional Facility-Specific Requirements

  • Signed acknowledgment of Orientation Safety Manual (Joint Commission Training)
  • Acknowledgment of pass/fail testing for Telemetry exam
  • Photo for badge (passport-style, no headwear except for religious/medical reasons)
  • Completion of communicable disease form within 90 days of start
  • Completion of required exemption forms if applicable (Flu, MMR, Varicella)
  • Remediation course required if Telemetry test is failed twice before a third attempt is allowed

References & Documentation

  • Two clinical references within the last 3 years (agency standard)
  • Employment application required

Requirements / Qualifications

  • Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Wisconsin
  • Minimum of 1 year CVICU experience within the last year
  • Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
  • Basic Arrhythmia experience
  • American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
  • American Heart Association (AHA) Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification

This position is ideal for experienced CVICU Registered Nurses licensed in Wisconsin who have strong telemetry and arrhythmia skills, and are comfortable working 12-hour shifts on a rotating day/night schedule in a critical care environment.
