Registered Nurse – Medical Surgical (Travel/Contract)

Location: Beaufort, South Carolina
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Job Details

• Shift: Day shift, 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (7:00 AM – 7:00 PM)
• Hours per week: 36
• Patient Ratios: 1:5 or 1:6
• Schedule includes weekdays, every other weekend, float, and holidays as needed
• Float position

Required Experience & Qualifications

• Valid RN license in South Carolina
• Minimum 2 years of Medical-Surgical nursing experience, with experience within the last year
• BLS (Basic Life Support) certification issued by the American Heart Association
• NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification
• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)

Facility & Work Environment

• EMR system: Meditech
• 50-mile radius restriction for travel
• Facility has strict policies: no license or background check issues accepted

Required Documentation & Compliance

• Government-issued photo ID must be carried during shifts
• Criminal background check required within 6 months prior to start (or within 30 days if hired after 12/14/25)
• EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required within 30 days of start and for every contract renewal
• Nursys verification required for RN license
• Physical exam attesting ability to meet physical demands of the position
• Drug testing: 10-panel within 6 months prior to start (or within 30 days if hired after 12/14/25); instant tests not accepted
• Immunizations and titers required or documented declinations for:

  • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (within 10 years)
  • Measles (Rubeola)
  • Mumps
  • Rubella
  • Hepatitis B (positive titer or vaccine series)
  • Varicella
  • Seasonal Flu vaccination or declination (year-round requirement)
  • COVID vaccination or declination
• Negative TB test or chest x-ray within 1 year prior to start; TB questionnaire required for positive responders or as follow-up
• Badge photo required (no hats, sunglasses, filters, or altered images)

Orientation & Training

• Completion of approximately 81 Relias modules prior to first shift and orientation (up to 8 hours allowed for orientation)
• Facility-specific confidentiality and job description forms must be signed immediately after hire

References & Evaluations

• Proof of 2 clinical references required (hospital evaluations accepted)
• Performance evaluation required if previously completed assignments through any agency
• Skills checklist must be updated annually for applicable units

Additional Notes

• ACLS certification is not listed as required for this position (only BCLS and NIHSS required)
• Chemotherapy certification not required for this Med Surg unit
• Facility enforces strict background and license verification policies; no exceptions for hits or issues

This position is ideal for a Medical-Surgical RN with at least 2 years of experience, who is licensed in South Carolina and comfortable working day shifts with a 1:5 or 1:6 patient ratio in a hospital setting using Meditech EMR. First-time travel nurses are welcome.
