Ultrasound Tech - General (Travel/Contract)
Location: Burlington, Vermont
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Details
- Work schedule: 8-hour day shifts (8:00 AM – 4:30 PM), 5 days per week (40 hours/week)
- Weekend work: As needed, no regular weekend shifts
- Facility: Large trauma center, 579 beds, teaching hospital with 2 sites on campus
- No block schedules allowed
- Orientation offered bi-weekly on Mondays
Required Qualifications
- ARDMS certification in abdomen, gynecology, and vascular ultrasound
- Minimum 2 years of ultrasound experience (highest specialty experience requirement)
- Experience in a breast care center, including performing breast biopsies
- Experience working in a large teaching hospital required
- Epic electronic medical record experience within the past 2 years (mandatory)
- Current state license for Ultrasound Tech as applicable
- ACLS, BLS, and PALS certifications as required by unit/job (AHA standards only)
- National tech certification verification within 30 days of assignment start
Additional Requirements
- Complete and explain any employment gaps over 90 days
- Provide full work history including bed count, EMR, and facility type for all prior assignments
- Reliable personal or rental vehicle transportation required (public transportation not accessible)
- Vehicle must have all-season or snow tires November through April
Compliance and Documentation
- Background check within 30 days of start covering all locations lived/worked/schooled in past 7 years, updated annually
- Education verification based on highest degree relevant to the job
- Vermont Adult and Child Abuse Registry consent and search required
- Vermont Crime Information Center (VCIC) criminal background check required for Vermont placements
- Physical exam within 12 months of start
- N95 fit test required prior to start and updated annually (approved mask types specified)
- Immunizations/vaccinations required or documented exemption:
- Tdap within 10 years or titer
- 2 MMR vaccines or positive titers for measles, mumps, rubella
- Hepatitis B series and titer or signed declination
- Varicella (2 vaccines or positive titer)
- Seasonal flu vaccine or approved exemption during flu season (Oct 1 – Mar 31)
- COVID vaccination or declination
- Pneumonia vaccine or declination if assigned to New York facility
- Negative TB test (PPD, QGold, or TSPOT) within past 12 months; chest X-ray if positive TB test
- Annual TB questionnaire if positive TB history
- Drug testing per facility standards prior to start (not required annually for Vermont)
Facility-Specific Requirements
- Completion of EPIC and Cornerstone training modules prior to start (approx. 8 hours, non-billable)
- Submission of passport-style photo for badge (plain light background, no logos/hats/sunglasses) at least 2 weeks before start
- Completion of various facility forms including emergency contact, candidate information, and consent forms within specified timeframes
- Compliance with dress code and telephone usage policies
- COVID testing protocol on Day 1 of work (if required) with mask-wearing and social distancing guidelines
- Auto registration form must be completed within 48 hours of signed contract (time sensitive)
