Pediatrics Registered Nurse Travel/Contract Position - Maryland
Job Details
- Location: Baltimore, Maryland
- Employment Type: Travel/Contract
- Contract Length: 13 weeks
- Shift: Alternating Day/Night every other week
- Day Shift: 7:00 AM – 7:00 PM (3 shifts per week)
- Night Shift: 7:30 PM – 7:30 AM (3 shifts per week)
- Hours: 36 hours per week (12 hours per shift)
- Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend
- Holidays: Required as scheduled
- Floating: Required within specialty or sister units as needed
- On-Call: Not required
Patient Population & Care Setting
- Patient Age Group: Neonates, infants, pediatrics
- Patient Diagnoses:
- Prematurity
- Apnea of Prematurity (AOP)
- Retinopathy of Prematurity (ROP)
- Bronchopulmonary Dysplasia/Chronic Lung Disease (BLD/CLD)
- Cardiac defects
- Feeding issues
- Neonatal Abstinence Syndrome (NAS), including iatrogenic NAS
- Special Equipment:
- Trach/ventilator care
- PICCs/Central Lines
- Total Parenteral Nutrition (TPN)/Intravenous Lipids (IL)
- Nurse-to-Patient Ratio: Typically 1:3, up to 1:4 with lower acuity patients
- Scrubs: Any color or print allowed
Required Qualifications
- Valid RN license in Maryland
- Minimum 2 years of pediatrics experience, including experience within the last year
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association
- Experience working with pediatric patients
- Trach/ventilator experience
Compliance & Documentation Requirements
- Background Checks:
- 7-year criminal background check within 30 days of start, updated annually
- Social Security trace, county, nationwide, sex offender, OFAC, education verification
- Felony review: Felonies within 5 years are automatic decline; older felonies require review
- Health Requirements:
- Physical exam within 1 year of start
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray per Maryland requirements, updated annually
- Immunizations or titers for Rubeola (Measles), Mumps, Rubella, Varicella, Hepatitis B (series and titer required), Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (within 10 years)
- Seasonal flu vaccine or medical/religious exemption required during flu season
- COVID-19 vaccine not required for this location but documentation collected for tracking
- Negative drug screen (9 or 10 panel depending on location) within 30-90 days of start
- Fit mask test within 1 year of start
- References: Two supervisory references within 1 year of start
- Employment History: Verification of previous 5 years required (attestation accepted)
- Competency Exams:
- Medication/Pharmacology competency exam (score ≥80%)
- Age-specific competency exam (score ≥80%)
- Color blindness testing
- Facility-Specific Documents:
- Photo for badge (passport style with solid background)
- Confidentiality agreement signed prior to start
- Dress code review
- Badge application completed within 72 hours of signing contract
- Job description acknowledgment signed prior to start
- TB questionnaire if positive TB test
- Epic Portfolio Training Test Out form (if applicable)
Additional Notes
- Floating may be required within specialty or sister units.
- Weekend and holiday shifts are mandatory as scheduled.
- On-call duties are not required for this position.
- Candidates must be prepared to work alternating 12-hour day and night shifts every other week.
This position is ideal for pediatric RNs with trach/vent experience seeking a travel contract in a specialized pediatric care setting. First-time travel nurses are welcome to apply.
