Job Opportunity: RN Emergency Room
Location: Milwaukee, Wisconsin
Employment Type: Long-Term Assignment (13 weeks)
Shift: 7:00 PM – 7:30 AM
Job Description
- Work every other week (EOW) and every other holiday (EOH)
- Requires either:
- 3+ years of Emergency Room nursing experience and previous travel experience, or
- More than 5 years of experience in a large Emergency Department without travel experience
- Experience with EPIC electronic health record system required
- May need to float onsite within skill set or to other sites within 40 miles as needed
Required Qualifications
- Valid RN license in Wisconsin
- Minimum of 3 years of Emergency Department (ED) experience, including experience within the last year
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association
- Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification
- Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification
- Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC) certification
- NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification
- Crisis Prevention Intervention (CPI) or Management of Aggressive Behavior (MOAB) certification
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
- Previous travel nursing experience
- Experience with Epic electronic health record system
Prior Travel Experience
- Required: Must have previous travel experience or meet the higher experience threshold (3+ years with travel or 5+ years without)
Onboarding and Compliance Requirements
- Completion of specialty competency exams and core competencies with minimum 80% passing score (updated every 3 years)
- Ascension Epic Test-Out with passing score of at least 80% (two attempts allowed)
- Clinical skills checklist completed within one year of start and updated annually
- Color vision test completed prior to start and updated every 3 years
- Fit test for respiratory protection (annual update required)
- Immunizations and health screenings:
- MMR: documented proof of two vaccines or positive titer (no declinations accepted)
- Varicella: documented proof of two vaccines, immunity, or history verified by healthcare provider (no declinations accepted)
- Tdap: valid within 10 years (no declinations accepted)
- Hepatitis B: vaccination series completion or signed declination
- Influenza vaccine recommended during flu season (declinations accepted with mask requirement)
- Tuberculosis screening: 2-step PPD or IGRA testing with annual TB questionnaire; chest X-ray if positive
- 12-panel drug screen within 30 days prior to start and annually thereafter
- Criminal background check including Social Security Trace, OIG Search, National Sex Offender Registry, and EPLS within 90 days of start
- Employment and education verifications completed within 90 days of start and updated annually
- Signed assignment agreement and onboarding attestations completed prior to start
- Professional references: at least two required prior to first assignment
Additional Notes
- May be required to float to other units or locations within 40 miles based on staffing needs
- Must be able to complete all required onboarding documentation and certifications prior to or at start of assignment
This position is ideal for experienced Emergency Room RNs who meet the experience and certification requirements and are comfortable working night shifts with potential floating responsibilities.
