Position Details

Specialty: Registered Nurse (RN)
Location: Nashville, TN

Contract Length: 13 weeks

Unit Information

Unit: Coronary Care Unit (CCU)
Number of Beds: 32
Patient Ratios: 2:1
Scheduling: 4-week schedules with 3-4 weekend shifts required per scheduling period
Floating Policy: Float as needed based on unit census
Documentation System: Meditech
Equipment: Hill-Rom beds, Phillips telemetry monitors
Support Staff: Student nurse externs as techs, unit secretary available Monday-Friday 7:30 AM - 3:30 PM

Required Experience & Skills

Years of Experience: Minimum 2 years in specialty (Cardiac nursing)
Must Have: Cardiac experience and strong critical care experience
Advanced Skills:
- PA catheter and hemodynamic monitoring
- Intra-aortic balloon pump (IABP)
- Impella device
- Continuous renal replacement therapy (CRRT) preferred
Procedures Performed:
- Central line insertion
- Swan-Ganz catheter insertion
- Intubations

Certifications & Licenses

Required Certifications:
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support)
- BLS (Basic Life Support)
- NIH Certification
Licenses: Registered Nurse License

Additional Information

Dress code includes scrubs in galaxy blue, red, or black; scrub jackets or vests only
The unit has a growing cardiogenic shock program with 12 beds dedicated to these patients
Recognized for excellent teamwork and engaged staff
Awards include Nurse Practice Council and Daisy Award Recipient
