Position Details
- Specialty: Registered Nurse (RN) – ICU Experience Required
- Employment Type: Travel
- Location: Nashville, TN
- Unit: Neurovascular Intensive Care Unit (NVICU)
- Unit Size: 16 beds
- Patient Ratios: Typically 2:1; may vary between 1:1 and 3:1 depending on patient acuity and staffing
- Scheduling:
- Minimum of 4 weekend shifts per 4-week schedule
- Self-scheduling available to some extent
- Manager may adjust shifts to balance the schedule
- Floating Policy: Contract staff float first; may be required to float to med/surg units as needed
Unit Environment & Equipment
- Staffing Support: Unit secretary staffed during day shift; occasional nurse externs assist as techs
- Equipment Used: Ventilators, External Ventricular Drains (EVDs), Continuous Renal Replacement Therapy (CRRT), Sustained Low-Efficiency Dialysis (SLED), EV 1000 monitoring system
- Documentation System: Meditech
Required Certifications & Skills
- Active RN license
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support)
- BLS (Basic Life Support)
- NIH Certification
- ICU experience required
Procedures Commonly Performed on Unit
- Central line insertions
- Arterial line insertions
- Lumbar punctures
- Chest tube insertions
- EVD insertions
Dress Code
- Navy scrubs (tops and bottoms)
Additional Notes
- Emphasis on providing attentive and compassionate care to patients and families
- Contract length: Approximately 13 weeks
