Travel RN Opportunity - Labor and Delivery

Location: Hendersonville, Tennessee
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Unit Overview

• Unit: OB (The Birth Center)
• Beds: 20 LDRPs, 5 OB assessment beds
• Patient Ratios:

  • 1:3-4 couplets
  • 1:1 for active labors, VBACs, laboring patients on magnesium sulfate or insulin
  • 1:1-2 for triage, early labor/cervical ripening
• Staffing:

  • Unit secretary Monday-Friday
  • Patient Care Technician Monday-Friday 0300-1130
  • OB Scrub tech 24/7
• Equipment: GE fetal monitors, Novii’s
• Documentation System: CPN and Meditech
• Scheduling: Utilizes Timpani scheduling with preferences highly considered
• Floating Policy: No floating allowed
• Patient Experience: Bedside shift report every shift, every time
• Dress Code: Pink scrubs (shocking pink) only; no pale pink or mauve

Required Skills & Experience

• Specialty: Labor and Delivery Registered Nurse
• Minimum Years of Experience: 2 years in Labor and Delivery
• Certifications Required:

  • BLS (Basic Life Support)
  • NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program)
  • Stable
  • AWHONN Intermediate Fetal Monitoring
  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support)
• Licensure: Registered Nurse License
• Required Experience:

  • Labor and Delivery experience
  • Intermediate fetal monitoring
  • Triage experience

Advanced Skills & Procedures

• Couplet care
• Circulating in OR
• Procedures performed on unit include:

  • Vaginal deliveries
  • Versions
  • Cesarean sections (C/S)
  • Epidurals
  • Postpartum tubals
  • Cerclage removal
  • Circumcisions
