Overview

• Travel assignment in Hermitage, Tennessee
• Unit: PCU
• 34 beds in one PCU area and 25 beds in another
• 36 hours per week
• 3 12-hour shifts per week
• Contract length: 13 weeks

Required Qualifications

• Valid RN license in Tennessee
• PCU - Progressive Care Unit (2 years of experience)
• PCU - Progressive Care Unit experience within the last year
• BLS
• ACLS
• Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
• EKG rhythm interpretation experience
• Cardiac drip experience
• Insulin drip experience
• Heparin drip experience
• Peripheral IV skills

Preferred

• Peritoneal dialysis experience

Unit Details

• Patient ratios: 1:4 to 1:5 on days; 1:5 to 1:6 on nights
• Staffing includes 3 techs when full on one PCU area and 2 techs when full on the other
• May float between PCU units or to med-surg floors
• Uses Meditech
• Equipment and care on the unit include bipaps, high flow O2, vapotherm, alaris pumps, cardiac drips, heparin drips, insulin drips, peritoneal dialysis, and wound vacs
• Procedures performed include thoracentesis, paracentesis, chest tube insertions, dobhoff/NG tube insertions, central line dressing changes, and troubleshooting wound vacs

Scheduling

• Every other weekend required
• Self-scheduling is used
• Schedules are 4 weeks long

Additional Clinical Experience Mentioned

• Experience with bipaps, high flow O2, and multiple oxygen delivery systems
• Experience with stroke and post cardiac cath care
• Experience with tube feedings and NG/dobhoff tubes
