Registered Nurse – Cardiovascular Surgery (Travel)

Location: Richmond, Virginia
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Hours per Week: 36

Job Summary

Seeking a Registered Nurse with cardiovascular surgery experience to work in a Cardiovascular Operating Room (CVOR) unit. The role involves scrubbing cardiac cases requiring bypass and related thoracic surgery procedures, including daVinci-assisted surgeries and ECMO initiation.

Unit & Work Environment

Unit: CVOR, 4th floor
Unit hours: 6:30 AM – 3:00 PM
Call shift starts at 3:00 PM when assigned
Weekend call includes Friday, Saturday, and Sunday when assigned
Hospital-provided scrubs required as uniform

Procedures & Skills Required

Proficient in scrubbing cardiac cases such as:
- Coronary Artery Bypass Grafting (CABG)
- Valve replacement and repair of aortic dissections
- Transcatheter Aortic Valve Replacement (TAVR)
- Thoracic surgery including daVinci-assisted lobectomy, wedge resections, mediastinal lymph node biopsy
- ECMO initiation
- Pericardial window procedures
Ability to take call as scheduled

Requirements/Qualifications

Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Virginia
Minimum 2 years of Cardiovascular Operating Room (CVOR) experience, including experience within the last year
Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification
Proficient in scrubbing cardiac cases requiring bypass
Proficient in scrubbing thoracic surgery cases, including daVinci-assisted procedures
Proficient in scrubbing open thoracotomy cases
Proficient in scrubbing Video-Assisted Thoracoscopic Surgery (VATS) procedures
Proficient in scrubbing procedures initiating Extracorporeal Membrane Oxygenation (ECMO)
Proficient in scrubbing pericardial window procedures
Experience in thoracic surgery

This position is ideal for experienced cardiovascular OR nurses comfortable with advanced cardiac and thoracic surgical procedures and flexible scheduling including call shifts.

Unit is semi friendly you get floated a lot in your first month of contact you all all the supplies you need. Over time is always available

Cons

Resources for your unit some are helpful others are not. If you have to use a timesheet for your pay the CNC doesn’t like that hopefully agency can upgrade that.
