Job Description

• Responsible for inpatient pharmacy pharmaceutical services including procurement, distribution, storage, and administration of drugs by appropriate staff.
• Ensure pharmacy services comply with all State and Federal regulations.
• Review all inpatient medication orders for appropriateness and correctness to ensure safe and effective use.
• Identify and verify all patients' home medications prior to use in the facility.
• Maintain pharmaceuticals, specialty boxes, and crash carts (e.g., STEMI kit, OB kit, Clinic kit).
• Maintain quality assurance procedures, security of controlled substances, and disposal of hazardous waste drugs.
• Manage pharmacy and Omnicell inventory.
• Resolve drug discrepancies promptly.
• Maintain records of procurement, dispensing, and destruction of pharmaceuticals, including scheduled substances as required by California pharmacy law.
• Maintain ordering, billing, and invoice records for pharmaceutical acquisition and dispensing.
• Provide weekend coverage for emergency medication dispensing during shifts.
• Serve as on-call pharmacist after hours on days worked.
• Assist with pharmacy licensure issues and maintain compliance documentation.
• Provide drug information to healthcare professionals within the facility.
• Recommend improvements to pharmaceutical services policies and procedures.
• Maintain confidentiality of patient and resident information.

Required Qualifications

• Valid Hospital Pharmacist license in California
• Minimum of 3 years of hospital pharmacist experience
• Hospital pharmacist experience within the last year
• Experience in an inpatient setting
• BLS certification
