Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) - Long Term Care

Job Summary

Provide quality nursing care to patients in a Long Term Care setting, respecting patient rights and dignity. Duties may vary depending on the assigned area within the facility. Serve as an integral member of the nursing staff within the scope of practice.

Required Qualifications

• Valid LPN / LVN license in Alaska
• Graduate of a school offering programs for Licensed Practical Nurses (LPNs) or Licensed Vocational Nurses (LVNs)
• Minimum of 1 year of LPN / LVN experience, including experience within the last year
• Experience in Long Term Care
• Current BLS certification

Skills and Abilities

• Ability to communicate effectively with physicians, medical staff, and patients, including those from different cultures or with limited English proficiency
• Ability to read, analyze, and interpret professional and technical materials
• Ability to write reports and business correspondence
• Ability to participate in committees and represent the nursing profession professionally
• Mathematical skills including basic arithmetic and data interpretation
• Problem-solving skills in situations with limited standardization

Equipment Used

• Medical equipment such as Dynamapp, thermometers, Datascope, Pulse Oximetry
• Office machines including multi-line telephone, computer, fax machine

Additional Information

• Orientation starts on a Tuesday; guaranteed hours may not apply during the first week if 40 hours/week is guaranteed thereafter.
