Position Details
- Specialty: Registered Nurse (RN) - Progressive Care Unit (PCU)
- Facility: Norton Brownsboro (part of Norton Healthcare system)
- Location: Louisville, Kentucky
- Employment Type: Long-Term Assignment (LTA)
- Shift: 6:45 PM – 7:15 AM, every other weekend
- Contract Length: 13 weeks
Requirements
Experience
- Minimum 2 years of acute care RN experience
- Experience with seizure patients preferred
Education & Certification
- Education: Diploma or Associate degree in Nursing required
- Certification: Registered Nurse license required
- Required certifications: ACLS, BLS, NIH certification
Skills
- IV insertion
- Blood draws
- PICC/Central Line management
- CPAP/BiPAP management
Mandatory Credentials and Compliance
- Current BLS card from an accepted agency
- Nursys report (preferably Compact Nursing License)
- ACLS certification
- Current state or compact RN license with primary source verification completed prior to start
- NIH certification (annual)
- Passing scores on Norton-specific exams and screenings (Basic Rhythm Interpretation, Basic Med Assessment, Specialty Exam)
- COVID-19 vaccination (declinations accepted for medical or religious reasons)
- Documentation of immunizations and health screenings including:
- MMR (2 doses or positive titer)
- Hepatitis B vaccination or signed declination
- TB test (2 negative skin tests or Quantiferon Gold)
- Varicella (2 doses or positive titer)
- Tdap vaccine
- Influenza vaccine (optional, but reviewed for exemptions)
- Fit test (annual)
- Physical/Health statement confirming ability to perform essential job functions (within 1 year prior to assignment)
- Drug screening (standard 10 panel, within 12 months and updated annually)

- Background checks including criminal, employment, education, and registry verifications
- Norton-specific employment eligibility verification (I-9, E-Verify)
- Completion of Norton job description review and workplace safety modules
- Norton candidate affirmation and employment eligibility documentation prior to start
- Norton skills checklist and references/employment verification submitted before start
This position is ideal for experienced acute care RNs with PCU skills who meet the required certifications and immunization standards, and who are comfortable working night shifts on a long-term contract basis.
