Job Opportunity: RN Labor & Delivery / Postpartum / Newborn Nurse

Location: Salem, Massachusetts
Employment Type: Long-Term Assignment (LTA)
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Unit Overview

• Unit: Labor & Delivery / Postpartum Unit
• Bed Count: 25 total (5 Labor & Delivery rooms, 12 Postpartum beds, 2 ORs, 2 Recovery Rooms, 2 Antepartum Units with 4 beds)
• Average Daily Census: 15-25 mothers, babies, and labors
• Clinician to Patient Ratios:

  • Labor & Delivery: 1:2-3 during evaluations, 1:1 during active labor, magnesium drip, or epidural
  • Postpartum: 1:3-4
• Charting System: EPIC
• Floating: Not required
• Shift: Nights with 1 night of call and every other weekend (EOW) - 36 or 48 hours

Required Experience & Skills

• Specialty: Labor & Delivery, Postpartum, Newborn Care
• Minimum Years of Experience: 3 years
• Skill Sets: Labor & Delivery, Postpartum care, Circulating in OR, Newborn care

Certifications & Licenses Required

• Current Massachusetts RN License (no conditional licenses accepted)
• BLS (AHA, Red Cross, CHSF, or Military)
• NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program)
• EFM (Electronic Fetal Monitoring) certification (NCC, K2, or AWHONN; 2-year renewal required)
• Fit Test for N95 respirator (within 365 days)
• Influenza vaccine (required during flu season, no exemptions)
• TB test (skin test or blood test within 3 months of start date)
• Health Statement signed by MD/DO/NP/PA (within 365 days)
• MMR vaccination or proof of immunity
• Additional preferred: ACLS certification

Additional Requirements

• Must comply with criminal background checks, CORI checks, and other professional verifications as required by the facility
• Required submission documents include:

  • Resume with past 7 years of work experience
  • 2 recent references (minimum 1 supervisor or above)
  • Skills checklist
  • Candidate submission coversheet

Notes

• Rotating shifts required; straight day shifts are not available due to union agreements
• No floating to other units required
• Prior travel experience is not explicitly required for this position
