Job Opportunity: RN Telemetry I (Telemetry Nurse - Nights & Every Other Weekend)

Job Description

• Position on a new 24-bed private room inpatient medical telemetry unit.
• Unit Name: Pingree 5.
• Patient Population: Adult medical patients.
• Clinician to Patient Ratio: 1 RN to 4-5 patients.
• Bed Count: 24, with full census.
• Shifts: Night shifts with rotation every other weekend (EOW), approximately 36 hours per week.
• Rotating shifts required to cover open night shifts; day shift rotation occurs a couple of times per month.
• Floating to other units may be required.
• Must be able to read cardiac telemetry strips.

Required Qualifications

• Specialty: RN Telemetry I
• Years of Experience: Minimum 3 years in telemetry nursing.
• Licensure: Active Massachusetts RN License (no conditional licenses accepted).
• Certifications:

  • BLS (American Heart Association only for this facility) – required.
  • ACLS – preferred but optional.
• Skills: Ability to read cardiac telemetry strips is mandatory.
• EMR System: EPIC.

Required Credentials & Compliance

• Professional license verification with primary source verification (NURSYS and Board of Nursing required).
• Fit Test for N95 respirator within 365 days of start date, updated annually.
• MGB Medication Exam (80% passing within 365 days).
• MGB Dysrhythmia Exam (80% passing).
• Immunizations and health requirements:

  • MMR (measles, mumps, rubella) vaccination or proof of immunity.
  • Influenza vaccine required during flu season (Sept 15 - April 30), no exemptions.
  • TB test (skin or blood test) within 3 months of start date, updated if >6 month break.
  • Hepatitis B vaccination or proof of immunity preferred.
  • Tdap vaccine preferred (within 10 years).
• Health Statement signed by MD/DO/NP/PA within 365 days of start date.
• Respirator Medical Clearance Attestation (part of fit test).
• Criminal background checks including:

  • MGB Criminal Background Check (within 45 days prior to start).
  • Massachusetts CORI background check (within 30 days prior to start).
  • Social Security Number trace.
  • National Sex Offender Check.
  • Exclusion checks (OIG, GSA, MassHealth, NH Medicaid).
• References: Minimum 2 recent references, at least 1 supervisor or above.
• Skills checklist and candidate submission coversheet required for submission.
• Resume including past 7 years of work experience with city and state.

Additional Information

• Prior travel experience is not explicitly required.
• Rotation includes night shifts and some day shifts.
• Floating to other units may be required.
• No religious exemptions for fit testing or influenza vaccine.
• No onsite fit testing available; must be completed prior to start date.

This position is ideal for experienced telemetry RNs comfortable with night shifts, telemetry strip interpretation, and working in a fast-paced adult medical telemetry unit.
