Job Description

• Position: Registered Nurse (RN) specializing in Medical/Surgical
• Employment Type: Travel contract
• Facility: Acute care hospital setting

Required Credentials & Certifications

Certifications

• BLS (Basic Life Support) - Must be AHA certified
• NIH Certification - Updated yearly for Group A, every 2 years for Groups B-F
• MOAB Moderate Risk De-Escalation Training
• Ascension Color Vision Test - Completed prior to start and updated every 3 years
• Ascension Core Competencies (HIPAA, Joint Commission NPSG, OSHA) - Completed within a year of start, updated yearly, minimum 80% score, max 2 attempts
• Ascension EKG Exam - Passing score of at least 80%, max 2 attempts

Licenses

• Current RN license with primary source verification within 30 days prior to start
• Nursys verification within 30 days prior to start
• License/Certificate verification within 30 days prior to start
• Driver’s License/State ID - Must be valid and match address requirements

Personal Health History & Immunizations

• MMR: Documented proof of two vaccines or positive IGG titer; no declinations accepted
• Hepatitis B: Documentation of vaccination series completion or signed declination
• Influenza Vaccine: Required during flu season (Oct 1 - Mar 31); exemptions accepted with mask requirement
• Varicella: Proof of two vaccines, immunity, or history verified by healthcare provider; no declinations accepted
• Tdap: Valid within 10 years; no declinations accepted
• Fit Test: Required annually; preferred prior to start
• Positive PPD/Negative Chest X-Ray and Annual TB Questionnaire (optional but recommended)
• 2 Step PPD OR IGRA (Quantiferon/Tspot) within 30 days prior to start
• Health Statement or physical exam prior to first assignment, updated annually
• Ascension 12 Panel Drug Screen - Within 30 days prior to start, updated annually

Onboarding & Compliance Requirements

• Ascension Onboarding Requirements Education Attestation
• Ascension Nursing Contract Worker Onboarding (onsite)
• Ascension Nova StatStrip Pre-Hire Modules
• Ascension Cerner Test-Out
• Ascension Skills Checklist - Clinical skills checklist completed within one year of start, updated annually
• Ascension Criminal Background Check - Includes Social Security Trace, Employment Verification, OIG Search, National Sex Offender, updated annually or after break in service > 90 days
• Ascension EPLS (Excluded Parties List System) check within 90 days of start
• Ascension Education Verification - Verification of education relevant to clinical work within 90 days of start
• Ascension Employment Verification - Third-party employment verification for past 7 years, updated annually or after break in service > 90 days
• Ascension Confirmation of Assignment - Provided upon initial assignment and updates with extensions

References & Evaluations

• At least two professional references required prior to first assignment
• Post-assignment evaluation (optional)
