Shift: 7:00 PM – 7:30 AM
Job Description
- Provide nursing care on a step-down unit with a focus on PCU (Progressive Care Unit), Med-Surg, or Telemetry acute care patients.
- Placement will be based on the greatest unit need and the nurse’s skill set.
- Candidates with Med-Surg or Stepdown RN experience are eligible (same credentialing for both).
- Must be able to float within the skill set to other units onsite or to sites within a 40-mile radius as needed.
- Requires 2 years of Progressive Care Unit (PCU) or Med-Surg Telemetry acute care experience.
Required Qualifications
- Valid RN license in Wisconsin.
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) / Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN).
- Minimum 2 years of Progressive Care Unit (PCU) experience, including experience within the last year.
- Med-Surg and Telemetry nursing experience.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association.
- Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification.
- NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification.
Onboarding & Compliance Requirements
- Professional resume/profile and at least two professional references required prior to submission.
- Current license and primary source verification within 30 days prior to assignment start.
- Criminal background check including Social Security Trace, OIG Search, National Sex Offender Registry, and other required screenings within 30 days prior to start.
- Drug screening (12-panel) within 30 days prior to start and annually thereafter.
- Health and immunization documentation including:
- MMR (two vaccines or positive titer; no declinations accepted)
- Varicella (two vaccines, immunity evidence, or history; no declinations accepted)
- Tdap (valid within 10 years; no declinations accepted)
- Hepatitis B vaccination series completion or signed declination
- Influenza vaccine (optional; mask required if declined during flu season)
- Tuberculosis screening (2-step PPD or IGRA, chest x-ray if positive, annual questionnaire)
- Fit test for respiratory protection, preferably completed prior to start.
- Statement of good health or completed physical exam prior to first assignment, updated annually.
- Completion of specialty exams and core competencies including:
- Specialty exam with minimum 80% passing score, updated every 3 years
- EKG exam with minimum 80% passing score, updated every 3 years
- Core competencies covering HIPAA, Joint Commission, OSHA, and other regulatory topics, updated every 3 years
- Epic electronic health record test-out and training checklist with signed attestation
- Completion of onboarding education attestations and pre-hire modules specific to nursing contingent workers.
- Driver’s license or state ID must be current and match address requirements.
Additional Notes
- Prior travel experience is not explicitly required.
- Floating to other units or nearby sites may be required based on staffing needs.
- Must be able to demonstrate competency in step-down, Med-Surg, or telemetry nursing care.
