Medical Surgical RN

Overview

• Travel/Contract role in Charleston, South Carolina
• Float Pool assignment
• Night shift: 3x12 hours, 19:00–7:30
• 36 hours per week
• Adults only
• Patient ratio: 1:5
• Unit accepts 1st time travelers

Required Qualifications

• Valid RN license in South Carolina
• Float experience with 2 years of experience
• Float experience within the last year
• ACLS issued by American Heart Association
• BLS issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
• Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
• Experience with Epic
• 2 clinical references, including at least 1 leadership reference from assignments within the last year
• Must live within 60 miles of the facility
• Floating is required
• Must provide 5 days of availability through self-scheduling and work 36 hours each week during the contract
• First and last week of the contract are not guaranteed
• Any week containing RTO that prevents meeting the scheduling requirement is not guaranteed

Preferred Qualifications

• Previous charge experience
• Teaching hospital experience
• Trauma Level 1 & 2 experience

• Feeding tube care and management
• Blood product administration
• Peripheral line care/management

• Starting and maintaining IVs

• Oxygen tanks
• Tracheostomy care/management
• Isolation precautions/PPE

• Telemetry monitoring on the unit
• Bariatric surgery

• Pre/Post Hemodialysis management
• Renal failure
• Accessing/managing ports
• Central line blood draw
• PICC line management
• Heparin
• Manage cardiac drips, no titration
• PCA
• CVA (Cerebrovascular Accident)
• Substance withdrawal
• Traumatic brain injury
• Ortho trauma
• Total joint replacement
• Chest tubes-Emerson/PleurEvac
• Non-invasive airway management
• Wound care/Wound Vac

Additional Notes

• Shifts access will not be granted until fully cleared by the client post orientation
• Epic is the charting system
• Omnicell is the medication system
• Scrub color: Royal Blue or White top with Royal blue bottoms
• Separation period: 6 months
