Assignment Overview

• High-acuity, high-volume ER with no trauma
• About 230 visits/day
• 36 beds with overflow units
• 1:4 ratio
• Case mix includes all ages, primarily geriatric and adult; about 10% pediatric patients are transported to CHOC
• Stroke and STEMI Center
• Magnet designated

Schedule

• Day shift, 3x12 hours
• Must be open to working weekends and may exceed every other weekend to meet unit needs
• Holiday RTO cannot be guaranteed
• Scheduling preferences may be considered but are not guaranteed
• Scheduling requests due to additional employment will not be considered

Contract Length

• 13 weeks

Required Qualifications

• Valid RN license in California
• Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
• ED - Emergency Department (1.5 years of experience)
• ED - Emergency Department experience within the last year
• One completed travel assignment
• ACLS issued by American Heart Association or Heart and Stroke Foundation
• BLS issued by American Heart Association or Heart and Stroke Foundation
• NIHSS
• PALS issued by American Heart Association or Heart and Stroke Foundation
• Stroke experience
• ICU - Intensive Care Unit experience
• Must be open to working at least 6 weekend shifts per 6-week schedule cycle, which may include a shift every weekend

Preferred Qualifications

• 2 years of specialty experience
• EPIC experience
• TNCC
• CEN or CPN

Float Scope

• May float to Tele Hold and ICU Hold as needed

Additional Notes

• Limited pediatric experience is okay
• RTO must be included at time of submission
• Guaranteed hours are not fully protected; the facility may call off once per two-week pay period
