Emergency Room Registered Nurse

Overview

• Travel/contract role in Manchester, New Hampshire
• 12-hour night shifts, 36 hours per week
• Every other weekend required
• No call requirement
• Fast-paced emergency department with a strong pediatric presence

Required Qualifications

• Valid RN license in New Hampshire
• Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
• 2 years of experience in fast-paced ER settings
• ED - Emergency Department (2 years of experience)
• ED - Emergency Department experience within the last year
• One completed travel assignment
• ACLS - Advanced Cardiac Life Support issued by American Heart Association
• BLS - Basic Life Support issued by American Heart Association
• PALS - Pediatric Advanced Life Support issued by American Heart Association
• TNCC - Trauma Nursing Core Course
• Management of Assaultive Behavior (MAB)
• NIHSS
• Interpretation of dysrhythmias
• Management of dysrhythmias
• Experience with Epic

Preferred

• Pediatric experience

Unit Details

• Average daily census: 70
• Visits per day: 160
• 36 rooms
• 50 beds

Responsibilities and Patient Mix

• Emergency department care for adult and pediatric patients across the lifespan
• Triage and dysrhythmia interpretation/management
• Floating expectations include helping hands support in ICU and ED
• May assist with patient sitting
• Will not take patients outside the assigned clinical team

Common Diagnoses and Procedures

• Treats minor injuries, fractures, abdominal pain, chest pain, shortness of breath, trauma, psychiatric emergencies, substance use disorder, sepsis, and GI/GU/OB concerns
• Procedures include conscious sedation, trauma activation, stroke activation, cath lab activation, and SANE consultation

Equipment and Systems

• Point of care ultrasound/US-guided IV, EPOC, Belmont, Ranger, and teleneurology
• Omnicell, Epic, SBAR, and Voalte

Orientation and Scrubs

• 36 hours of orientation, including 1 week of class/clinical time
• Any color scrubs allowed
