Job Opportunity: Case Manager (Registered Nurse)
Location: Boston, Massachusetts
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Shift: Day shift, 5 days per week (8:00 AM – 4:30 PM)
Hours: 40 hours per week (8 hours per day)
Job Description
- Provide case management for medically complex pediatric patients.
- Experience required in pediatric case management and discharge planning.
- Occasional weekend shifts may be requested.
Required Qualifications
- Registered Nurse (RN) license valid in Massachusetts.
- Bachelor’s degree in Nursing required.
- Minimum 5 years of nursing experience (including pediatric case management).
- Case Management certification preferred.
- Current certifications required:
- BLS (Basic Life Support) – AHA or American Red Cross
- Background checks and clearances:
- 10-year criminal background check within 6 months prior to start.
- Massachusetts Statewide iCORI clearance within 6 months prior to start.
- EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required.
- Professional references: 2 verified from 2 separate employers within the last 3 employment positions.
- Employment application with 10-year work history; explanations required for gaps over 30 days.
Required Certifications (based on unit assignment)
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) if assignment extends beyond 13 weeks in certain pediatric cardiovascular or intensive care units.
- PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) required for specific pediatric intensive care, neonatal, emergency, and cardiac units.
- NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Procedure) preferred for NICU assignments.
- Additional certifications may be required depending on specialty area (e.g., chemotherapy certification for oncology).
Health and Immunization Requirements
- Physical exam within 1 year prior to start, cleared to work without restrictions.
- Immunizations and proof required prior to start:
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (Tdap acceptable anytime after age 11; declinations not accepted).
- Negative TB test (T-Spot or QuantiFERON blood test within 90 days or 2-step skin test).
- MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella): proof of 2 vaccinations or positive titers.
- Hepatitis B: must meet one of the accepted documentation options (series and/or titer or declination).
- Varicella: proof of 2 vaccinations or positive titer.
- Seasonal vaccinations:
- Flu vaccine or approved medical/religious exemption required during flu season (Aug 1 – Mar 31).
- COVID-19 initial series proof or approved exemption required; seasonal COVID vaccine preferred but not mandatory.
- Drug screening: 9-panel drug screen within last 12 months (not required for advanced practice nurses).
Additional Requirements
- Proof of name change if applicable (for any documents under different names).
- RespSafety clearance required for all travelers; facility-specific fit testing completed onsite.
- Competency exams in pediatric pharmacology and general competencies required (not required for advanced practice nurses).
- Completion of facility-specific onboarding and data collection forms within specified timeframes.
- Compliance with facility-specific background check and fingerprinting processes (including EEC background check for behavioral health roles if applicable).
