Job Opportunity: Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) - Travel/Contract

Location: Florence, South Carolina
Specialty: Respiratory / Neuro Diagnostics
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Shift: Nights, 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (6:45 PM – 7:15 AM)
Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend
On-call: No
Floating: Required to float within scope to all hospital areas including labor and delivery

Job Details

• Must have recent critical care experience as an RRT (no CRTs accepted)
• No local candidates accepted; must be willing to travel within a 60-mile radius
• Facility may call off 1 shift per 2 weeks
• No block scheduling accommodations available
• Charting system: Epic
• Free parking provided
• During hurricane season (June–November), all staff may be assigned to emergency response teams

Required Qualifications

• Valid Registered Respiratory Therapist license in South Carolina
• Minimum 2 years of experience as a Respiratory Therapist, including experience within the last year
• Respiratory Care Practitioner experience
• National certifications required at start:

  • NBRC Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT)
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) – AHA or ARC only
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) – AHA or ARC only
  • Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) – AHA/AAP only
  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) – AHA or ARC only

Certifications & Compliance

• Certifications must be valid and not expire within 30 days of start date
• Annual background check required, including multiple national and state-level searches
• Drug screening: 10-panel urine drug screen within 90 days of start (no instant tests)
• Physical exam required, updated annually, confirming ability to meet job demands
• Respirator medical clearance required annually via RespSafety questionnaire
• Immunizations and titers required:

  • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (within 10 years or declination form)
  • Measles (Rubeola), Mumps, Rubella (positive titer or vaccination series)
  • Hepatitis B (titer, vaccine series, or declination)
  • Varicella (positive titer or vaccination series)
• Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 90 days of start (T-spot or Q-Gold accepted; 2-step PPD not accepted)
• Seasonal flu vaccination required during flu season (Aug 1 – Mar 31), with medical/religious exemptions accepted but no declinations

Documentation & Onboarding Requirements

• Valid driver’s license and social security card copies required
• Employment application/resume and proof of 2 clinical references (hospital evaluations accepted)
• Performance evaluation dated within 12 months of start
• Skills checklist updated annually for applicable units
• Clear, passport-style photo for badge
• Completion of facility-specific orientation modules (approx. 4 hours) prior to start
• Signed agreements including assignment acknowledgment, code of conduct, confidentiality, HR policy, systems user agreement, and HIPAA confidentiality
• COVID vaccination not required but highly preferred; if declined, must complete vaccination declination form with proper checkboxes

Additional Notes

• Prior travel experience is required; first-time travelers will not be accepted
• No radiation badge required for this position
• Work history verification is not required for this facility
• All required documents and certifications must be submitted and approved prior to start
• Travelers must upload vaccination and flu documentation into the facility’s system as instructed
