ICU Registered Nurse (Travel/Contract) - Chicago, IL

Position Details

• Specialty: Registered Nurse (ICU)
• Employment Type: Travel/Contract
• Shift: Night shift, 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (7:00 PM – 7:30 AM)
• Hours per Week: 36 hours
• Contract Length: 13 weeks
• Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend (2 weekends per month)
• Call Requirements: None
• Time Off (RTO) Policy:

  • Maximum 5 days off total, no more than 2 consecutive days
  • No time off allowed on or adjacent to holidays or weekends
• Floating: Mandatory float within scope as needed by the facility

Required Qualifications

• Valid RN license in Illinois
• Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
• Minimum 2 years of ICU (Intensive Care Unit) experience, with ICU experience within the last year
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association
• Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association
• NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification

Required Compliance & Documentation

• Government-issued photo ID (driver’s license or state ID)
• Background check within 12 months covering all locations lived/worked/schooled in past 7 years; Illinois fingerprinting may be required
• EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks within 30 days of start
• Physical exam within 12 months, signed by PA, NP, DO, or MD
• Negative TB test (QGold or TSPOT) within 12 months; annual updates required
• Immunizations/vaccinations:

  • Tdap within 10 years or signed declination (declination must be within 12 months)
  • 2 MMR vaccines or positive titers for measles, mumps, rubella (boosters if low titer)
  • Hepatitis B series, titer, or signed declination within 1 year
  • 2 Varicella vaccines or positive titer (booster if low titer)
  • Seasonal flu vaccine or approved medical/religious exemption during flu season (Oct 1 – May 4)
• Drug screening: Negative 9-panel drug screen within 90 days of start; must be initiated within 48 hours of contract signing
• Fit mask test (N95 or equivalent) within 1 year; medical or religious exemptions require approval for onsite PAPR use
• Annual competency exams including medication/pharmacology and color blindness testing (if applicable)
• Completion of facility-specific forms and rules of behavior

• No block scheduling; shifts are fixed nights
• Guaranteed 36 hours per week
• Local candidates preferred but travel nurses accepted
• Floating is mandatory as per facility policy to meet staffing needs
