Registered Nurse - Medical Surgical (Night Shift)

Location: Mooresville, North Carolina
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Position Details

• Specialty: Registered Nurse (Medical Surgical)
• Shift: Night (3 shifts per week, 12 hours each; 7:00 PM to 7:30 AM)
• Patient Population: Adults and Geriatrics
• Nurse-to-Patient Ratio: 1:6
• Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend
• On-Call: None
• Orientation: Biweekly sessions
• Scrub Color: Royal Blue
• Local candidates within 75 miles are accepted

Required Qualifications

• Valid RN license in North Carolina
• Minimum 3 years of Medical Surgical nursing experience, including experience within the last year
• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
• ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) certification issued by the American Heart Association
• BLS (Basic Life Support) certification issued by the American Heart Association
• NIHSS certification

Required Documentation & Compliance

• Valid Driver’s License or Government-issued Photo ID
• Social Security Card (only if used for I9 verification)
• Background Check (within 90 days of start): includes SSN trace, county searches for past 7 years, sex offender, education verification, and other applicable checks
• EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks (within 90 days of start)
• Physical Exam (within 12 months of start)
• Negative TB test or Chest X-Ray (within 12 months; chest x-rays valid for 2 years)
• TB Questionnaire (updated annually)
• Immunizations and Titers:

  • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (every 10 years, no exemptions)
  • Measles (2 vaccines or positive titer, no exemptions)
  • Mumps (2 vaccines or positive titer, no exemptions)
  • Rubella (1 vaccine or positive titer, no exemptions)
  • Hepatitis B (titer, vaccine series, or declination)
  • Varicella (2 vaccines or positive titer; boosters required if low/equivocal)
  • Polio vaccine or signed attestation
• Drug Test: Negative 10-panel (including THC) within 30 days of start; instant tests not accepted
• Flu Vaccine: Required for flu season (Oct 9 - Apr 1), no exemptions allowed
• NURSYS Verification for RN license
• Competency Exam: Unit-specific competency exam required
• Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI) Blue Card training provided onsite if candidate does not have one

Additional Requirements

• Two professional references from employment within the last 12 months, including at least one supervisor
• Employment application with 7 years of work history
• Skills checklist updated annually
• Completion of online orientation modules prior to start
• Setup of a facility-specific Guest Account prior to clearance to access orientation and work systems

Notes

• Candidates with less than a 30-day gap between previous assignments at this facility may have some document requirements waived or accepted on file
• Candidates must complete competency checklists within 3 weeks after start date
• Candidates must complete all required documentation and clearances before starting; no pending background checks allowed
• Training and testing (e.g., pass/fail medication and EKG tests) occur during orientation
