Job Opportunity: Ultrasound Tech - General

Location: Hazard, Kentucky
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Shift: Friday to Sunday, 12:00 PM to 12:00 AM (3 shifts per week, 12 hours each)
Hours per Week: 36 hours


Job Description

  • Work primarily involves Radiology/Cardiology specialty with focus on ultrasound technology.
  • No on-call requirements.
  • Preferred experience includes vascular and general ultrasound.
  • Preferred equipment experience: GE ultrasound machines.
  • Orientation occurs bi-weekly.
  • Candidates must reside at least 75 miles from the facility; local candidates are not accepted.

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum of 1 year of experience as an Ultrasound Technologist, with experience within the last year.
  • Valid ARDMS certification.
  • Current AHA Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
  • Valid driver’s license.

Compliance and Documentation Requirements

  • Background checks including national criminal search, sex offender registry, fugitive database, violent offenders, county searches for last 7 years, and federal exclusions (EPLS/GSA/SAM, HHS/OIG).
  • Education verification.
  • Drug testing within 30 days of start using a specific 9-panel bundle (no THC) with expanded opiates and oxycodone.
  • Physical exam or physician note within 1 year prior to start, stating candidate is cleared to work without restrictions.
  • Immunizations and health documentation:
    • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (valid within 10 years; Td not accepted).
    • Negative TB test (Qgold only) within 1 year, renewed annually.
    • Proof of MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) vaccinations or positive titers.
    • Hepatitis B series, titer, or declination within 1 year.
    • Varicella vaccinations or positive titer.
  • Flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption required during flu season.
  • OSHA Respirator Medical Evaluation, TB risk assessment, and related documentation must be completed and uploaded prior to start.
  • Fit mask test to be completed onsite; PAPRs not accommodated if facial hair present.
  • Annual competency exams including medication/pharmacology, dysrhythmia/EKG (if applicable), and core competencies.
  • Orientation safety manual acknowledgment required.
  • Job description acknowledgment signed and renewed annually.
  • State-specific registry checks (Kentucky Vulnerable Adult Maltreatment Registry) required within 30 days prior to start and updated annually.

Additional Notes

  • Candidates must sign assignment confirmation within 24 hours of offer.
  • Candidates with latex allergies must notify employee health and unit manager upon arrival for accommodations.
  • Prior travel experience is not required.
  • No on-call duties.
  • Candidates must comply with all facility-specific policies and documentation requirements prior to start.
