Job Opportunity: Home Health Registered Nurse

Location: San Diego, California
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Job Description

  • Provide home health nursing care with a focus on geriatric patients.
  • Work hours: Day shift, 5 days a week, 8 hours per day (8:00 AM – 5:00 PM).
  • Hours guaranteed if 25 or more patient visits are completed weekly (25 visits = 40 hours).
  • Mileage reimbursement provided at IRS standard rates for travel between patients.
  • COVID vaccination proof or approved exemption required.

Required Qualifications

  • Valid RN license in California.
  • Minimum 1 year of home health nursing experience within the last year.
  • Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing.
  • Experience working with geriatric patients in a home health setting.
  • Experience with OASIS documentation.
  • BLS certification issued by the American Heart Association.

Certifications & Compliance

  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.
  • Advanced certifications (ACLS, PALS, NRP, EFM) as applicable should be verified.
  • Primary source verification of state nursing license required.
  • Annual background checks and federal exclusions screenings required.

Health & Safety Requirements

  • Physical exam within 12 months prior to start.
  • Immunizations and titers required:
    • TDAP (within past 10 years, no declinations accepted)
    • Measles, Mumps, Rubella (proof of immunity or vaccination for those born in 1957 or later)
    • Hepatitis B (titer or vaccine series; declination accepted if within 1 year of start)
    • Varicella (proof of immunity or vaccination; no declinations accepted)
    • Seasonal flu vaccination (declinations accepted)
  • Negative TB test (PPD, QGold, or TSpot) within 1 year; if past positive, annual TBQ and chest x-ray within 5 years required.
  • Negative 9-panel drug screen within 1 year of start.
  • COVID vaccination proof or approved medical/religious exemption required.

Documentation & Other Requirements

  • Government-issued photo ID (Driver’s License or State ID).
  • Valid passport copy required before start.
  • I9 attestation and employment application required for clearance.
  • Professional references: 2 required.
  • Passport-style photo for badge.
  • Personal or auto insurance and auto registration documentation required and must be kept current during assignment.
  • Completion and acknowledgment of facility-specific training and hand hygiene policies prior to start.
  • Annual skills checklist and competency exams as applicable.

  • COVID exemptions are permitted.
  • Rate may vary based on coverage territory and experience.
  • Candidates must have applied for CA RN license if not currently licensed.
