Registered Nurse – Oncology Clinic

Location: Charlotte, North Carolina
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Job Overview

  • Work in an outpatient oncology clinic setting focused on medical oncology and non-malignant hematology patients.
  • Role primarily involves triage, patient education, coordination of care, and follow-up with 1-2 providers.
  • No chemotherapy or infusion administration performed at this facility.
  • Typical workload: 20 patient visits per day across 4 rooms.
  • Shift: Monday to Friday, 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM (8-hour days, 40 hours per week).
  • No call or weekend requirements.
  • Float to similar centers/clinics as needed.

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum 2 years of Registered Nurse experience.
  • Outpatient oncology experience is required.
  • EPIC electronic health record experience is required.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
  • Must bring own stethoscope.
  • First-time travelers accepted if they have outpatient oncology experience.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Oncology Certified Nurse (OCN) certification.
  • Skills in chemotherapy administration and IV starts (though chemotherapy is not performed at this clinic).

Responsibilities

  • Triage patients and manage phone calls.
  • Educate patients regarding their care and test results.
  • Coordinate care and follow-up with providers.

Orientation and Scheduling

  • Orientation and scheduling are based on clinic needs.
  • Scrubs are not provided.
  • Interview with the hiring manager is required prior to offer.

Patient Diagnoses

  • Medical oncology and non-malignant hematology conditions.

Systems and Equipment

  • EPIC and SBAR communication tools required.
  • No special equipment provided or required.

Compliance and Documentation Requirements

  • Background check within 6 months required for clinical candidates.
  • Drug screening (9-panel) within 6 months of start.
  • Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year of start; additional documentation required if history of positive TB.
  • Required immunizations and titers: Measles (Rubeola), Mumps, Rubella, Hepatitis B, Varicella.
  • Flu vaccination or approved exemption required during flu season.
  • Physical exam not required for this crisis assignment.
  • Various facility-specific documents and acknowledgments required prior to start, including confidentiality agreement, medication safety training, and annual compliance training.
  • Candidates must complete Non-Novant Health Worker Clinical Education Orientation (approx. 8-10 hours for acute candidates).
  • Must complete Corporate ID setup and I-Learn login prior to start.
  • Photo for badge required immediately after signing contract (passport-style photo on white background, business attire, no head coverings except glasses).

Additional Notes

  • No Return to Office (RTO) after booking allowed; call-offs or additional RTO may lead to cancellation.
  • Candidate must be available for interview within 72 hours of submission.
  • Radiation badge not required for this position.
