Position Details
- Employment Type: Travel/Contract
- Shift: Day shift, 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (7:00 AM – 7:30 PM)
- Total Hours per Week: 36
- Contract Length: 4 weeks
Job Description
- Provide respiratory care for adult inpatients, adult ICU, and general pediatric patients (no NICU or PICU)
- Weekend shifts as needed; no on-call responsibilities
- Schedule flexibility is required
- Work in a teaching hospital environment
- Epic electronic medical record (EMR) experience within the past 2 years is mandatory
- No block scheduling allowed
- Reliable personal or rental vehicle transportation is strongly recommended (public transportation is not accessible)
Required Qualifications
- Valid Registered Respiratory Therapist license in Vermont
- Minimum 1 year of respiratory therapy experience within the last year
- Experience working with adult and pediatric patients in an inpatient setting
- Teaching hospital experience
- Current American Heart Association certifications: BLS, ACLS, and PALS
- Experience with Epic electronic medical record system
Compliance and Documentation Requirements
- Complete and verifiable work history including bed count, EMR, and facility type for all previous employment
- Background check within 30 days of start, covering all locations lived/worked/schooled in past 7 years; updated annually
- Education verification as applicable
- Primary source verification of state license within 30 days of start and upon expiration
- National technician certification verification within 30 days of assignment start
- Annual competency exams and medication/pharmacology competency as required
- Color blindness testing required
- Vermont Adult and Child Abuse Registry consent and search required for Vermont assignments
- Vermont Crime Information Center (VCIC) criminal background check required for Vermont placements
- Physical exam within 12 months of start (required for Vermont facilities)
- N95 fit test required prior to assignment and updated annually (specific acceptable mask types)
- Immunizations/vaccinations required or documented declinations: Tdap (within 10 years), MMR (2 vaccines or positive titer), Varicella (2 vaccines or positive titer), Hepatitis B series or declination, Flu seasonal vaccination or exemption (medical/religious only; no declinations accepted), COVID vaccination or declination, Pneumonia vaccination or declination if assigned to New York facility
- Negative TB test (PPD, QGold, or TSPOT) within past 12 months; chest X-ray if positive TB test; annual TB questionnaire if positive
- Drug testing within 12 months (required for New York facilities)
- Two professional references from assignments within the last 3 years
- Skills checklist within 12 months
- Employment application and 2-year verification of most recent clinical work history
- Candidate must complete various facility-specific documents including photo for badge, emergency contact form, candidate information form, and attestations related to workplace policies and COVID protocols
- Completion of EPIC and Cornerstone training modules prior to start (approximately 8 hours, non-billable)
- COVID testing on Day 1 of work may be required with mask-wearing and social distancing protocols strictly enforced

- Immediate start required (must start within the next week)
- All employment gaps over 90 days must be explained
- No block schedules allowed
- Reliable transportation is essential due to lack of public transit options
