Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse (PCU) - Illinois (Travel/Contract)

Location

  • City: Quincy, Illinois

Contract Length

  • 13 weeks

Schedule

  • Every other weekend
  • Float as needed
  • 36 or 48 hour contracts available
  • Block scheduling may be accommodated (inquire for details)

Required Experience

  • Minimum 2 years recent experience in specialty (PCU)
  • First-time travelers accepted if they have 5+ years of experience
  • Prior travel experience is NOT required

Required Licenses and Certifications

  • Illinois Registered Nurse (RN) license in hand
  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) from American Heart Association or American Red Cross
  • BLS (Basic Life Support), preferably from American Heart Association or American Red Cross
  • NIH Stroke Certification (must be updated annually)
  • Other certifications may be required depending on unit (e.g., PALS, NRP) but not explicitly required for PCU

Required Health and Compliance Documents

  • Physical exam within 30 days of start, stating traveler is in good health and cleared to work without restrictions
  • Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year of start
  • Immunizations or proof of immunity for:
    • Rubeola (Measles)
    • Mumps
    • Rubella
    • Hepatitis B
    • Varicella
  • Seasonal flu vaccination or documented declination during flu season (Oct 1 - Mar 31)
  • COVID-19 vaccination proof prior to start
  • 10-panel drug screen dated within 30 days of start (no rapid results)
  • N95 Fit Test within 12 months of start

Background and Verification Requirements

  • 7-year criminal background check within 30 days of start, including:
    • SSN Trace
    • County searches for last 7 years
    • National criminal and sex offender checks
    • Education verification (diploma or transcripts acceptable)
  • EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks annually and within 30 days of start
  • Employment verification for last 3 years
  • At least 2 recent professional references within 3 years

Competency Requirements

  • Medication/Pharmacology competency exam (minimum 80% or meet Angoff score)
  • Unit-specific competency exam
  • Core competencies (Parts I, II, III) and OSHA mandatory training, updated annually
  • Color blind testing

Facility Specific Requirements

  • Photo for badge (headshot, JPEG format)
  • Completion of various facility-specific forms and acknowledgments prior to start (e.g., employee health info, non-discrimination statement, code of conduct, confidentiality agreement, mandated reporter status)
  • Completion of computer-based learning modules by specified deadlines

Requirements/Qualifications

  • Valid RN license in Illinois
  • Minimum 2 years of Progressive Care Unit (PCU) experience, including experience within the last year
  • ACLS certification issued by the American Heart Association
  • BLS certification issued by the American Heart Association or American Red Cross
  • NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification
  • Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
