Job Opportunity: Interventional Radiology Nurse (RN)

Location: Burlington, Vermont
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: Approximately 32 weeks


Job Description

  • Full-time Registered Nurse position in Interventional Radiology
  • 8-hour day shifts with call required at least 1 weekday per week and every 3-4 weekends; additional call may be required based on department needs
  • Care for acute and chronic patients undergoing invasive procedures under imaging guidance
  • Administration of moderate sedation is essential and must be documented in work history
  • Strong critical care experience, conscious sedation experience, and interventional radiology procedural experience required
  • Experience in a large teaching facility preferred
  • Must have skills in peripheral IV starts and knowledge of vasoactive drips
  • EPIC electronic medical record experience within the past 12 months is mandatory
  • No block schedules allowed
  • Reliable personal or rental vehicle strongly recommended due to limited public transportation; vehicles should have all-season or snow tires November through April

Required Qualifications

  • Current RN license or proof of license in process for Vermont
  • BLS (Basic Life Support) certification
  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) certification
  • NIHSS (National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale) certification
  • Prior travel experience preferred but not required
  • Strong critical care and interventional radiology procedural experience
  • EPIC EMR experience within the last 12 months (non-negotiable)

Experience Requirements

  • Specialty: Radiology / Cardiology
  • Minimum 8 years of experience in critical care and interventional radiology procedures (based on job description emphasis on strong critical care and procedural experience)

Orientation & Scheduling

  • Bi-weekly orientations held on Mondays
  • Typical workweek Monday through Sunday with call requirements as noted

Additional Requirements & Compliance

  • Complete and detailed work history required, including bed count, EMR, and facility type
  • Explanation required for any employment gaps over 30 days
  • Background check within 30 days of start, covering all locations lived/worked/schooled in past 7 years
  • Education verification as applicable
  • Various certifications and competencies including medication/pharmacology competency exam and color blindness testing
  • Physical exam within 12 months of start
  • N95 fit test required prior to assignment and updated annually
  • Immunizations and health documents required: Tdap, TB test, MMR, Hepatitis B, Varicella, flu vaccination or exemption, COVID vaccination or declination, pneumonia vaccination if applicable
  • Drug testing may be required depending on facility location
  • Completion of facility-specific modules and safety manual acknowledgment prior to start
  • Various facility-specific forms and consents including adult and child abuse registry consent, emergency contact form, and vaccination declination forms if applicable

Transportation & Housing

  • Public transportation is not accessible in the area
  • Personal or rental vehicle strongly recommended
  • Vehicles should be equipped with all-season or snow tires during winter months

  • Reliable transportation is critical due to location constraints
