Sonographer (Echo Tech) - Bismarck, North Dakota

Job Details

  • Specialty: Echo Tech (Cardiac Sonographer)
  • Location: Bismarck, ND
  • Contract Length: 13 weeks
  • Shift: Day shift with variable start/end times; includes rotating weekends and call (weeknights and weekends)
  • Hours: 8 hours per day, approximately 40 hours per week
  • Work Environment: Fast-paced, high-volume echo department; inpatient and outpatient studies; some bedside patient work
  • Equipment Used: EPIC (CUPID, TOM TECH Reporting, PACS), Philips echo machines (EPIC 7, IE33, CX50)
  • Department Setup: 6 echo machines, 3 rooms; staff may work alone at times
  • Additional Notes:
    • Scrubs color: Gray
    • Clinicians must badge in/out at the facility
    • No local travelers accepted within 80 miles permanent address
    • Flexibility required; may assist in training new permanent staff
    • On-call rotation includes weekends and holidays
    • Floating to other units/departments is not required

Job Responsibilities

  • Perform adult echocardiography, including Definity and Agitated Saline contrast studies
  • Pediatric echo experience is a plus but not required
  • Perform TEE (Transesophageal Echo), Exercise Stress, and Dobutamine Stress Echo if experienced and time permits
  • Handle 5-8 cases per day (average 7 cases)
  • Mainly day shifts with possible evening shifts (11 am - 7 pm) once fully staffed

Required Qualifications

  • Experience: 4-5 years preferred but not required
  • Certifications: ARDCS or RCS certification required; CCI or ARDMS also acceptable
  • Licensure: North Dakota State License required
  • Certifications: BLS certification required
  • Other: Must disclose if previously worked for this facility; if yes, last end date must be at least 6 months prior to submission

Schedule & Work Conditions

  • Department staffed Monday through Sunday, 8-hour shifts
  • Rotating weekends with 10-hour shifts on Saturdays only
  • On-call duties when not staffed
  • Must be flexible with shift times and duties
